  • You can save over $200 if you take a box of cattle boluses and turn them into goat boluses! Goat boluses cost 50 cents per gram (4 grams x 12 boluses for $24). Cattle boluses cost 13 cents per gram (30 grams x 20 boluses for $80), so if you use a box of twenty 30-gram cattle boluses, you can make an equivalent amount of goat boluses that would have cost you $300, saving you $220! (Because you only paid $80 for the cattle boluses)

An inexpensive jewelers scale works great for precise measurements 🙂
I've also had horses for 40 years and I have never seen anyone try to bolus one, lol. That cow bolus is about 5 times bigger than the biggest horse pills I've seen!

I was wondering what your treatment for lice is, my does are dealing with it, and I was wondering if ivermectin pour on is a good option.

I have a doe due to freshen March 13, she looks good, poops are good, but her famacha is pale pink, I gave her a copper bolus since we were due for them soon anyway. Should I go ahead and deworm her as well or wait for the copper to work and for her to give birth and see if she needs deworming then?

If her body condition is less than 3, I would give her a dewormer now. If her eyelids are light pink, you should see some improvement within a couple of weeks.

Have you heard of a month old kid catching a fork tail and eating mud? I have two does of course still nursing on mom and I originally did your free copper deficiency course due to her because my husband purchased her and her sister in poor health conditions and I sent in photos to you during the course showing what all the vet had given me during fecal visit and all the feed and minerals I had them on and now she kidded last month on Jan 5th and now her kids are starting to have these issues listed above. Has this been heard of and can a kid this young take copper bolus? Also their eyes look nice and pink. Any advice given will be appreciated!! Thanks, God Bless

Eating dirt is usually a mineral deficiency. It would be helpful if you would post pictures of the mom and both kids in the course so I can see what they look like. If you could also remind me of the exact brand of mineral and feed you are using, that would be helpful.

@@DeborahNiemann I am using the orange bag of purina minerals from my local feed store it has the orange label. They all refuse to eat the red label purina minerals from TS. When I did the copper coarse I posted pics of mom but I will go and repost mom and kid. All my 4 kids are trying to eat mud but not nearly as much as that particular doe and her two kids but the kid that’s starting the fork tail, her coat is beautiful and her eyes are nicely pink. Its weird!! I will repost their pics!! Thanks for all you do!! God Bless

@@floraledet6973 You're welcome! The only goat mineral I can find on Purina's website has red on top and orange on the bottom of the bag, so I'm not sure what mineral you are talking about. Could you also take a picture of the nutritional analysis of the mineral you have and add that to the copper course discussion also?
