The bigger the map the better these drops are as the enemy takes longer to run to your drop. In this game it did a lot of damage and moreover was a big distraction.
Yeah, the better course of action would have been to go full in on Chaos base and hope to fare better in a base trade counting on the superior defenses of SL. Not sure if DH would have survived tough, not sure how this faction performs in defense.
Yeah the "trick" or "abuse" is not viable in PvP. I could be used in bigger teamgames maybe like 3vs3 or 4vs4. It is still an abuse and should not be used in PvP generally speaking.

Honestly having seen this match and having played survival, using troop transports to hotdrop troops past enemy frontlines seems pretty good.

Transports are generally so so good if you can use them. That's why you see good players to get a transport as the first vehicle they get in tier 2.
Steel Legion guy just waste time and resources on that trick with both path unlock and that was his folly
