You betcha, glad you enjoyed it! Every time Jen says she wants to go on a cruise, I remind her we take one or two of the best cruises to the mainland every hear 😎
The trusty tusty! I've been on her 3 times. Wow, she still looks the same after almost 40 years! Went to high school in Kodiak, my first time on her was in 1985, moving to Kodiak. Cool experience, got seasick, played pac man, you know that old chestnut.🤮🛳️🕹️
Interesting! In May 1969, we rod the Trusty Tusty from California, where it had been modified with stabilizers, to Kodiak. We had exactly the same stateroom. Too bad you didn't show the interior of that room as it would have been fun to see how they changed the rooms. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
That’s awesome! Bummer we didn’t think to include the stateroom (maybe if we wind up in it again 😉). Don’t know if you heard, but they’ve announced the Tusty will be retiring in the next few years, so we’re gonna try riding her as many times as we can before she’s taken out of service!
Well if you cut it down to one main road, get rid of most of the restaurants & tourist stuff, then increase the cost of everything about 50%, move expiration dates of anything perishable to within a few days either side of expiring, then finally make sure you can’t go anywhere without running into someone you know, you’ll pretty much have it 😎. Bigger than Seldovia, smaller than Homer. Thanks for watching ❤️
Now I know where to find the BEARS !!! Loved this video - would really like to do this trip one day. Was meant to arrive in Kodiak today 13 August 2021. COVID sucks.......
Ahoy there Kim! Agree on all counts (the BIG Kodiak bears are here, and yes COVID really-really sucks 😉). Thank you for watching, subscribing, & commenting!
@@Buoy4AK I have been a facebook member of Kodiak Camera Club for three years, so know all about Buoy 4 ;) makes me laugh every time they catch someone out with it. Visited in August 2017 solo, inc Katmai, and last year wanted to bring Hubby - nope, was hoping for this year - nope !!! Even dubious for next year too. Oh well - one day, once fine day, I will be back. Loved the turntable on the ferry - WOW !. Will have a look at more of your videos - LOVE AK X
So glad you are enjoying the videos. It’s a fun way to share this beautiful place we call home (& extra for those who know the legend of Kodiak’s “Buoy 4” 😎)
Just got a price june 23 2023 for 4 people in a cabin and a ram 4500 with a bigfoot 10-6 truck camper pulling a 18.5 foot oliver travel trailer the total was $19,432.88 . I will be driving up.
@@Buoy4AK Was a coast guard brat at Nimitz Park on Kodiak and we had to take Tusty to Homer as the 1st part of our move to the lower 48. Thanks for the upload
I work for the ferry and think this was a very good video.
Thank you Joe, that means a lot coming from the the awesome crew! 😊
I have never been on Tustumena or on Kodiak, but sailed all over SE. I loved AMHS! So much more rewarding than cruises! Thank you for sharing.

I lived on Kodiak in 1977 and worked on a Crab boat it's a beautiful in the summer when the sun comes out.
Very interesting and enjoyable watch. Some great scenery, the ferry logistics were nice to see, all nicely put together. Thanks for sharing

it looks a little small for a wanderlodge, but i think i saw them load semis on the ferry in Homer?
Looks like fun!
Hi Randy! Yep, it’s carried busses, tractors, timberjacks…. As long as it’s less-than 40’, it can haul it. Sporty, but it’ll do it.
I went from homer to kodiak on this ferry last year. It was great
This brings back memories. We lived in Kodiak while my dad was stationed up there. I miss it so much. I thought it was called the Rusty Tusty xP
Awesome! Well, we still call her the “Rusty Tusty” but we’re sure glad she’s here!

I’ve been to Homer but haven’t been To Kodiak yet. I’ve taken the Tustemena to Seldovia from Homer.

Wow! From the Lower 48?
@@Buoy4AK yes
Took ferry from Belingham to Kodiak 2002. Reversed in 2004.
We SO want to do that trip (even if we just stay aboard & come right back 😉)
Last time on the TrustyTusty was in 87.
You’ll have to try riding her at least one more time (especially since they’ve announced plans for her replacement). Thanks for watching 😎

Wow! At first I thought we were being hosted by Randall Carlson. 😜 Still a nice video all the same. 👍🏻
Guess I better look up that guy & see if that’s a good thing or a not-so good thing 😎

@@Buoy4AK It’s a good thing. Ha. 👍🏻
There’s a ship next door to the ferry terminal which looks like it’s been permanently grounded into the earth. Is that the case?
It is! We’ve heard the local scuttlebutt about it, but are researching its documentation to do a video on that this summer 😎
Are you originally from Kodiak?
Thanks for coming along Erika! On Kodiak 9 years, originally from the upper Midwest 😎
Where do you get the car pass?
