That is some good detail in the facial expressions. The whole segment where the greedy little dog convinces the other dog to give him the tiny bone for the whole dinosaur skeleton. It was just great.
This animation was sweet and I really enjoyed the emotions in the characters. Made me laugh. I don't understand why someone would thumbs down this animation.
so if youre not professional animator, this is the best animation I've ever seen. Music, story, characters, moves, emotions, sound fx and movement of their ears was amazing! If there were no credist, I would think that on this animation was working whole group of pixar animators. Nice work!
no, at 1:42 you see the shoulder twitch of the left dog... its not the spot on the shoulder of the other dog :) amazing animation! the expressions on their faces are spot on, and that is SO important. loved it!
Oh how cute, That one doggy was a mean doggy but he got what was coming to him, he should have shared in the first place, this could be good to teach kids to share, I wish I had a PC program for making cartoons I have whole bunch of stuff I have been drawing sense I was in grade school, It always been my dream to make them into cartoons, oh well I guess that just another dead dream of mine. Anyway great job and good luck.
Hey Cat I didnt realise this was up on the net yet? This is the first time I have seen it with sound design and everything finished as when I was scoring the music, the animation wan't complete. Wonderful work Cat and congratulations on SIGGRAPH xx
Wow. This is really good job. You should do more! It has so smooth shaders, great face emotions and smooth animations! It's so better than other 3D animation. Most 3D Animations that goes on 3D and maybe youtube, they looks so ugly!! I can almost say that you show us what a real good 3D animations can be. And no more ugly characters. :D
This is really nice, very nice character acting. My only thing (and I realize it's finished, but just a comment) is when he pulls himself up onto the bones, there doesn't seem to be enough weight; there should probably be just a little more struggle getting himself up. Otherwise, this is fabulous. Your camera shots rock too.
As a canine behaviorist, I have to say this is brilliant! Great job! Very creative and different. Kudos for using the African Wild Dog as your choice for the characters! I think you captured how dogs are in real life in a funny way. Although, in real life, the first dog would most likely steal the pile of bones from the other one! lol

I liked your short! A friend of mine and I were going to make a 15 minute short, but I gave up after 3 years and barely being ready to start animation. Maybe one day when I have the money I'll hire a bunch of animators to do it. lol

@cathicksartist I can always see subtle parts of your personality in the expressions of your characters Cat. It gives your characters a little bit of that energy and charm you have that everyone around you loves you for. Of course you probably don't realize the effect you have on us.
I'll have to check it out. I'm just worried about motion capture and 'digital puppeteering' becoming so easy to use and manipulate, it may make animation easy for a lot more people to do in the future, without school. A big part I guess is them helping us broaden our creativity and learn the traditional ways that digital-tutors would not even touch. Thanks for the recommendations, and please let me know if you find any other schools worth going to that don't require 100K
Hi Tech, 3DSMax is actually a program that I would NOT recommend at all for animation. Maya is the best and most widely used off the shelf software for animation production. This film was created in Maya. -C

@ChimeraProd I come from that part of Florida but can't afford to go to Ringling. Ringling as far as I know is a world class school (as in, one of the best in the world for art). If you look at where their graduates work, you'll see what I mean. Check out their site's student gallery section and then look up the graduates on LinkedIn to see where they're working now.
