Matt Pizzano Nancy played Livia perfectly. Livia was way more evil than her husband and son
She laughed because he dropped the gat.
That was honestly unsettling to me, and has been every time I’ve watched that scene. She ruthlessly belittled her daughter, completely deflected her son’s attempt to stand up for her, rapidly alternated between inducing guilt and dehumanizing her children, then emotionally ambushed her son with an appeal for the affection that she never previously offered, but before he can even process that she yanks it away and manipulates the situation to make him feel like he hurt her when all she wanted was her son’s love (and in doing so deprived him of the love he always wanted while making him feel like it was his fault for not receiving it), then at the peak of his distress and confusion Tony tries to disengage by physically walking away only to hear her completely sadistic laughter as he trips and falls. She’s laughing, victoriously, at the extent of the power she has over him; a victory that has only become so intensely important over the course of the past minute she has existed in a world where her son has the courage to openly invalidate her and her perspective.
When you grow up with a parent like Tony’s mother, scenes like this feel so much more sinister than they might look.

blaming it all in the weather changes was really heartwarming cause he was trying to avoid Tony look weak.
I love it when Tony defends Janice and she gets emotional then excused herself to the car. True sibling love no matter the fights or arguments.
By Season 6 if this situation has occurred again Tony would have laughed right along with Livia. At this point he still had some humanity left.
Remember the scene where Tony got Janice to breakdown cuz she was attending anger management? True sibling love right there.

Janice was offended rather than appreciative because Tony mentioned her weight and recalled the times her mother called her a tramp lol. She left because she didn’t want to hear his backhanded defense.
It’s less so a defense of Janice and more “maybe if you weren’t such a terrible mother we wouldn’t be so screwed up”
Borko walked away without a scratch. But HBO suffered a severe blow to their ratings.

I can’t remember his name, but that guy was honestly the most loyal character to Tony of the whole series HANDS DOWN. He was there, at every turn, helping, or at least offering to help, Tony. They should’ve put him in earlier in the series, Tone always needed a guy who would bend over backwards for him.
