WOODBRIDGE TWP., NJ - Two people were injured in a car crash on the Garden State Parkway South in Colonia on Saturday afternoon.
The driver of a Jeep lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road, hitting a tree near the Inman Avenue Overpass.
The impact of the collision trapped both the driver and his passenger inside the car, requiring extrication by the fire department. One of them was airlifted from Colonia Middle School to an area trauma center by a state police medical helicopter, while the other was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The extent of their injuries and their identities were not immediately disclosed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The southbound traffic on the parkway was delayed for about an hour, while police investigated the incident.
