The mother was Not innocent. She condoned it. She allowed it. She was just as guilty as her husband. Both despicable parents. Instead of protecting the children, they were both monsters.
This is heartbreaking. These young men endured so much as young boys. They have suffered so much. They deserve their freedom. Freedom is something they have Never had. The father was controlling and abusive ; and that is putting it mildly. It is an understatement. Let these young men be free to live in peace.
I don't agree with them killing their parents. Murder is murder but on the other hand, evidence of them being sexually abused by their parents isn't right either. Two wrongs don't make a right but I agree that these boys shouldn't have been sentenced to life with no parole either. The trauma these boys went through is enough in itself.
There is a shift taking place in that type of toxic relationship in the judicial system. Study after study shows men that are predators/ impart domestic abuse NEVER change; they are 'damaged goods'. In that type of toxic relationship the couple is like two pieces of a puzzle they fit together. The abuser seeks a prey with low self-esteem, that constantly seeks validationetc. Thus that couple dynamic is very different between the abuser/predator parent and the victim /child that is born in that environment.

She did not only facilitate the abuse and remained quiet about it but she was also abusing Lyle sxually she kept pictures of their children's privates and she was psychologically abusive. She said she didn't want to become a mother, that her children had come in between Jose and her. She was jealous of them because Jose wouldn't touch her but touched them. Even when a family member told her what Jose was doing to those children, she refused to believe it and punished the child for exaggerating and lying. Turning a blind eye to abuse makes you worse than the abuser himself. I'd like to see you in their exact position and let's see what you would have done. As one said' being a mother does not make me a saint' Victims present with different copying mechanisms once they enter into survival mode some internalize their pain/agony while others burst in rage and for some that leads into a life of violence, revenge, criminal lifestyle etc. Many in society have no problem when the victim goes on self-destruct but in this particular case they killed the parents be it planned/opportunistic revenge for all the years of pain and suffering and that destroys society ideology 'nothing like the unconditional love of a parent' even when we hear so many cases of children tortured, abused and killed by their parents. In some states the Dpt. of children protection gets 1,000 calls a day. This case brings light to the fact PARENTS CAN BE PREDATORS how society and the justice system will handle this REALITY because predators do not differentiate male from female they seek someone to prey on, a vulnerable being to impart pain since the moment of birth.
