Avalanche - Leonard Cohen Cover and soundtrack for trouble in paradise

Avalanche:
No place in Norway is more synonymous to this word than the lake Lovatnet near the town of Loen situated beneath the mighty Jostaldenbreen glacier. A place of utmost beauty and serenity but also of great tragedy and horror.
After several smaller avalanches occurred over the centuries, a big part of one of the mighty mountains surrounding the lake suddenly came down in January 1905. Two hamlets were buried completely and most people died together with their animals. Many were never found.
The survivors rebuilt their homesteads and many tourists started to come to this now famously notorious spot. Nobody believed that a catastrophe of this magnitude would possibly repeat itself.
But only one generation later, on Sunday September 13th at 4:30 in the morning, Mother nature proved them wrong, when a much bigger portion of the mountain came down. 1 million cubic meters, four times more than the previous time, not only buried the farms and hamlets which had been relocated to higher ground to no avail, but also created several Tsunamis of which the strongest one measured an unbelievable height of 70 meters, destroying and devastating many more buildings and towns around the entire lake.
And yet, there I was, overwhelmed by the natural beauty of this place, that it was hard to leave these wonderful coloured rocks, the nearby blue glacier, the towering waterfalls and most of all, the magical torquoise waters of the glacier lake. We explored it by boat, bicycle and walking tours and just couldn't get enough of it. Always aware that every moment of bliss could turn into terror at any given second.
