Slavik is the only best Latin dancer in the world I wanted to take lessons from. I am learning from his "Dancing with passion-Rumba" at home almost every day for the past several years now. Although I was one of the very few among my contemporary who could do the Cuban Motion years ago, but I still have to learn how to do the Cuban Motion the way Slavik does it ! Just saw the movie last night @ Tribeca Film Festival....sooooo sad! This has been my favorite rumba since I 1st saw it & now we finally know the behind the scenes story.
Please bear with me who is a 75 years old first-born person & suffered so much all my life and finally my Swedish girl friend who suggested a book " Birth Order by Dr. Lehman" did a lot of research and wrote the book. I spreaded the news to many friends who made a comparison to their own lives and came back to tell me that the book had made a lot of sense. Lolwat? He treated her really, really badly. Slavik admits to this himself on the documentary. You can even see this in some of the competition videos where he's tricks her with his fidgety moves to make her do a mistake. Why would she stay in an abusive relationship? My mind. It boggles. Besides, they really didn't have a too big of a chance to become no.1 considering the current level of the first two positions and Slavik's inability to modernize himself. He kept doing an amalgamy of his old stuff that just didn't work anymore.
what does being first born have anything to do with being stubborn and determined?! It doesn't matter if your first born, second born or 7 out of 7 or whatever, it has to do with the individual. Yes she has talent but you know training has a shit load to do with how far you go in this industry, more than just talent. As far as being a workable partner Anna yes , Slavik no.

I don't think Slavik is first born. I think I read it somewhere he is the youngest of the family. Anna may be. Franco is the third. I believe they are not too different. I don't know if I can call it stubborn. Competitors, particular good ones, need to have a strong believe in selected principles and dedication to discipline. And slavik is showing all of that. The good dancing won't happen if either one of the above is absent. So it leaves very little room to compromise. I agreed Anna is talented, trained but not to the same level. It kind of pains me to see slavik got emotionally stripped. Is there anyone else who can do rumba like him? For what he has done, wouldn't he have earned a pass to call the shots?
women are always better dancers because they have to be. men don't have to try and they can be jerks even when their partner is the best in the world. there is always someone they can be replaced with. only women that can tolerate abusive and unfaithful partners can be pro latin dancers.
omg I've known people who where both first born and married another first born and where both only children and live together and work together perfectly. Strong determined people need that, if they where with a passive person they would never be balanced for shit. The passive or less dominant one would become suppressed and resentful. This is why strong determined "couples" make it, not one strong one passive make it. Both Bryan and Carmen where very strong as ex., Riccardo and Yulia.

Since the Ballroom competition is not a race track, we have to accept the human factor to decide who is the champion.
