    I bought the same generator and enjoyed the video. You ran the generator for 30 minutes and used 40 ounces of gas. That would equal 80 ounces per hour, approximately 2/3 gallon per hour. That would equal run time of about 10.75 hour run time. Thanks again for the video.

      That 11k unit is just right on size.

    We are trying to decide between the 16k and 11k. We have 3 mini split systems (shop & home) and a hybrid water heater. i think the 11k will run the Mini splits and everything but that water heater pulls 5000 watts when heating.

      I would get the 16 and have zero regrets.. The 11k is only 9 continuous if I remember right.. It didn’t really like a lot over 8k.. In my opinion get the 16

    Rocky do you have soft starts on your ac units? And you said it’s powering whole house ? All breakers on ? I have one gas hot water heater and gas furnacea 4ton and stove is gas also

      My ac units are 22 seer. They are variable speeds so very low inrush amps. My hot water heaters are instant gas also.

      Do u think the 11,000 will be enough to run 4ton 13seer unit a gas hot water heater a couple tvs meaning 4 and some lights gas furnace and gas stove ?

    I’m definitely gonna look at something like this for my house. I have 2 3 ton ac units but gas hot water so that should be plenty

      @@RockyRohde FYI Duromax recently unveiled their XP16000iHT Tri-fuel. Gasoline/Propane/Natural Gas. You get the most power with gasoline with 16kw peak and 13kw running which will give you 50 amps. With Propane it produces 15,200kw peak and 12,350kw running; with Natural Gas it produces 13,800kw peak and 11,200 running. I don't have the runtime specifications on the XP16000iHT, but I do on the XP1600iH. The XP16000iH, with a 10.6 gallons fuel capacity, can operate for around 10.5 hours at 50% load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption around 1.01 GPH). When using propane, it can run for around 15 hours (on a 100 lbs tank -24 gallons - propane consumption is around 1.57 GPH).

      @carlwilson867 It was a hard decision between the the 16 and the 11.. The 11 covers my power so I would make the same choice again. The 16k is nice but much heavier and cost significantly more..

      @@RockyRohde Naturally, you made the correct decision for your needs. I would have bought the same had it been available when the XP9000iH was released. It powered my necessities during the three days the electricity was off after Hurricane Beryl. I was averaging 18 hrs per tank of gasoline. (6.9 gals)

    Have you been able to source new air filters for this yet? Their website part finder result only shows the spark plug when you search for XP11000iH. Manual says to change it out after X time frame and I wanted to have one on standby for when the time comes.

    What kind of transfer switch did you use? Unfortunately Duromax inverters are bonded neutral and their support is telling people you can't unbond them as they won't function correctly. This means they won't be up to code using interlocks or transfer switches that don't switch neutral and they will have current running over ground pin in that situation. Champion and Westinghouse have instructions on how to unbond their 11k inverters for use with interlock and the GenMax 10.5k inverter is unbonded from factory and supplies a bond plug in the box. Will probably be getting one of them instead since I want to use interlock and not sub panel.

      I have a generac 22KW with 200 amp auto transfer switch that is used 90% of the time. I also have 1000 gallon propane tank. The twist lock on my shop is backup to backup lol. It is hard wired in and I have to kill my main to use it. I usually let the generac handle backup for most cases. When we have large storms and power is out more than a day I will hook up the Kubota 14k diesel as it is more continuous duty and I keep a lot of diesel around the house also. Generally when I hook them up to twist lock I have a rolled up 10 gauge ground that I run back to the genset grounding lug. This ground is attached to my grounding rod beneath my main panel. I like to have all three options available on fuels gas, diesel, and propane. I’m a little ocd with redundancy.

    • @justinharrell9256
      @justinharrell9256 2 місяці тому +3

      @@RockyRohde No need for separate ground wire since the ground wire in the plug is attached to panel ground which is attached to house ground rod, ground lug on generator would only be if used separate from house where no ground rod is present.
      The neutral bond is a separate issue and is not about ground rod its about the neutral being connected to ground at panel and with a bonded generator its connected a second time in the gen which is against code and causes objectionable current on ground wire to gen, there can only be one neutral to ground bond in the entire system see NEC 250.6.

    Good video Rocky! Where did you buy yours and how much did it cost if you don't mind? I have been debating getting rid of my kubota gl14000 diesel just because it's so big. I like the features of the duromax. Keep up the great content. And off the subject I just installed some 35x12.50r17 nitto trail grapplers on my 2020 denali dually and love the ride. Watching your videos made me make up my mind and I'm glad I went that route.

      I purchased from duromax directly. I think it was close to 2600 with taxes. I’m keeping my Kubota and the Duromax!! The Nitto trails are my go to. Smooth ride, quiet, and no vibrations! Thanks for watching the videos!!

    I'm curious....if you're running 3 ACs, how is it working? I mean, you're using a 50A transfer, but each of those units would be pulling around 25A each, so how is it running everything? I've got the 13kW and my electrician said he needed to actually do TWO transfer switches so I can put one AC and the well on one switch and an AC and outlets on the other.
    Maybe he was just trying to talk me into a more expensive install?

      I have 21 seer variable speed units. They pull very little power to maintain temp. If I let the house get really hot or cold the units would pull more power. They only pull about 2500 watts at 30-40% comp speed. The shop one ton I have is a 21 seer mini split also.. My 22kw generac with 200 amp transfer definitely handles everything including my pool pumps..

    • @justinharrell9256
      @justinharrell9256 2 місяці тому +1

      @@RockyRohde It should be mentioned variable speeds soft start on their own without soft starter and normally don't run at full power unless you set thermostats 3+ degrees below the read temperature, so probably not doing 10 tons of cooling at the time unless you did that, also you mentioned solar was it helping as well? Looking at 11k inverter myself and have single 5 ton unit pulls about 6kw (including air handler blower) at full blast by itself plus well pump and everything else will be pushing it and require soft start for 2 stage non inverting heat pump.
