Design of Strap Footing

Lecture about the design of strap footing.
Strap footings are a kind of combined footings where the footings are connected using a beam (called a strap beam). By connecting the footings, the eccentricities can be remove thus allowing for a uniform distribution of pressure under the footing pads.

got confuse on why Mu=1/2(qu B*L*L),
was just the same with Mu=qu*area*(L/2)
anyway thanks forthis lecture, just refreshing my civil engineering days

The moment arm is at the centroid of the pressure diagram being considered. For a rectangle, that would be at the middle - so 1/2 appears in the equation
