- Conception - Black On Black
Parallel Minds Bonus track, 1993
Music: Ostby Lyrics: Khan
LYRICS:
Be patient folks
empty phrases cast to calm
fat, well behaved
suburban princes
head for the hills
where night is still
Another king's blood
floats in the streets
claiming the riots to rise
Chorus:
Revolution-delayed
action-bomb
years (of) compulsion
set on fire
revolution, raging
through the night
white man's verdict
Black on Black..
You're free to go
evidence is hard to find
so says the law
I say they've corrupted
clear are the signs
now is the time
Another king's quest
faints it the mist
left is the call of the wild
Revolution-delayed
action-bomb
years (of) compulsion-
set on fire
revolution-raging
through the night
white man's verdict-
Black on Black..
Solo
Spare us for
your visions
need no eyes to see
them through
poor is your divinity
we've lost our faith
long ago
Listen, the bells
for you they toll,
for you they call
Another king's cry
faints it the mist
left is the call of the wild
Revolution-delayed
action-bomb
years compulsion-
set on fire
revolution-raging
through the night
white man's verdict
Black on Black.
@Neueregel
I've always loved the Flamenco influences in Ostby's playing. He's a brilliant guitarist - his leads are so distinctive and creative, he doesn't simply rely on blazing shreds.
New ARK album this year, I can't wait.
Super song...
Late 2018, they're back. 2019, they'll reign again.
FANTASTIC. very good. One of best band I hear from Power/Prog Metal.
Yes! And you now what? ARK was TORE OSTBY new band, when Conception broke... and you know that Tore was the guitarist and co creator of Conception... so only a few bands did the flamenco heavy stuff... and i think the first one to did it in that way was Conception
Underrated.
Yes, indeed, the acoustic guitar here is great.
Great band!
Nifty song, feels like the transition from the debut to here probably due to all the acoustic guitar usage.
@fjtoledano Yes. Having flamenco fusion parts is really interesting for a metal band. I only know 3-4 other bands that did the same: Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Ark, Rough Silk and Fragile Vastness.
More than just different vocals, they're entirely different recordings. One of them is about a minute shorter, has a different (better) guitar tone, but a shorter solo. That little "listen, the bells!" vocal bit during the bridge goes on longer in the short version, as well.
hi I remember a difreent version of this song too, not this one. could you please give me more info about the oher version????
EPIC! I love this shit!
Well, I've found an ever-so-slightly different version of this track floating around. I wonder where it's from - probably that Power of Metal compilation.
@FlamingGaming1 After he left Kamelot, let's hope that he will do something with Conception again
@CarlosH1982 100% agree
@GlintsCollide1 me too. It rocks ;))
@Neueregel I dont think so, I'm a heavy metal fan and I love Conception because of the flamenco fusion... and my friends who also listen metal love Conception for the same reason (and so many others)...
@Worldofmetal Hello there. The answer to your initial question is I downloaded the rare songs you mentioned from some old P2P network (Audiogalaxy I think) somewhere around 2003. I don't have this bonus track here in CD, because I only own all the European CDs of 4 Conception albums, not the japanese.
I have all the songs you mentioned as well. I have not yet made vids for all of them In fact, I like the Silent Crying long version more than the original. It's about 7 minutes. Cheers.
is n't that on YT yet?I may upload it some day sooner or later, so pls sub
Thanks but of course I know Ark in the last 10 years, I dug them a lot. Conception reunited last year for a brief gig in the US Progpower festival.
Need that Progpower full concert \m/
@efoula19 thanks, eyxaristo gia to comment !! Parallel minds diskara
On which CD edition of the album can I find this track? On Japan version?
Yeah I think it's bonus on the Japanese version
Could you put the bonus tracks on mediafire or something? They're nearly impossible to find, I only have Gravity.
Where do you find the alternate version of Parellel Minds? The alternate version has this song, Roll the Fire has different vocal sessions and Silent Crying is slightly longer, according to Metal Archives. Is it the Japenese version or something else?
Discogs has no record of any such Papanese release with the relevant track listing, which means it's either in a compilation (Power of Metal?) or just exceedingly rare.
@TheMentalTyrant Well, there are plenty of old-school metal guys that don't like their Metal mixed with other genres of music because it loses its "Tr00' or 'Cvlt' status . (except maybe some classical, check Manowar) You know, the same old school 'dinosaur' guys that disdain and scorned Iron Maiden back in 1986 for their extensive Keyboard using in 'Somewhere in Time' or 'Seventh Son of a Seventh son' or refrained and holded back from listening to progressive metal for the same reasons.
Regarding 'genre' in most media, purity is largely synonymous with stagnantion and lack of creativity.
Their 'sin' to the metal masses of 1993 was that they introduced flamenco sounds as in 2' 12''. Fortunately Ark came some years later to deploy all Tore's guitar skills.
Hey Carloz !! Long time no talk, buddy !! Hope you're fantastic. Another World Cup 2018 next month, so best wishes to Colombia again !! James is a better player now.. And about CONCEPTION, I could NOT believe the great news about the reunion last month. But YES IT HAPPENED !! Roy and Tore are back working together. With no Conception, KHAN would NEVER be so famous to join KAMELOT. So, Conception is really important band in metal history, because they gave us KAMELOT with KHAN, 1 of the best metal bands ever. I listened to both Conception AND Kamelot since 2001, I was 17 and I am 34 now. And u 36? We're still young \m/ I'm SURE you also know Kamelot since the KARMA days in 2001. So, it's half our lives we know these bands, we will always be loyal to them, because they made a fantastic music for us, and helped us in some difficult moments to give us strength and courage for half of our lives. Saludos amigo, desde Grecia, Europa !! Bro, all the best for summer!
