This has been one of my favorite pieces since I first heard Jellyroll on vinyl, and this is a fantastic interpretation! Kudos, Ms. Park! There shouldn't be empty seats in your audience.
Great job! The mildly surprising thing is, for such a famously difficult show-off piece, how many fine performances exist--- Dick Hyman, Butch Thompson, Stephanie Trick, Morton Gunnar Larson, and Ms. Park's virtuoso turn... to name a few. It seems there is no shortage of abundantly skilled pianists re-exploring the world of ragtime, novelty piano and early jazz these days.
@@clintgillespie8579 If you're a pianist, you should have caught her numerous flaws, comparative lack of dynamic contrasts, and re-arranging of a few of the more difficult parts. Everybody's got their own opinion, of course. I play the piece, but sorta suck at it.
Very well done. Ive enjoyed your playing for several years now and did enjoy this 2017 taping. This is one of my favorite pieces. An old friend Jim Hession is on UA-cam at Fritzel's in New Orleans with his own take. But I like yours too.
WOW! just WOW! Until now I haven't heard anybody come remotely close to Dick Hyman's rendition of this wonderful piece, and whilst nobody will ever come close to that this stands out as the second best performance by a considerable margin. Great playing and interpretation 😀🎹
@@zed2466it’s Jelly Roll Morton. There aren’t really wrong notes. That’s not how his music works. No one plays as written. I know it’s a 4 year old comment, but still felt like adding that.
That might be the reason for the applause. Maybe the audience just wants to participate in the performance, though. That deft button pushing is kind of exciting.
I just did and I see what you mean. He really delivers the piece, and he doesn't "supplement" the music by loudly tapping his feet either, (so as to maintain a backing beat). It's just him and that piano. Thanks, that was a useful and enjoyable lead you suggested.
@@ohboi9578 Ok, I'll give you that though as a musician I find it hard to digest. My instrument is the classical guitar, and I would never attend recitals by performers who found it necessary to stomp their feet along to the music. It takes away from the actual music for me.

Damned good performance here, but c'mon, does anybody really beat Dick Hyman's version?
Yes but Jelly Roll wrote it ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
@@ayokay123 I just watched Dick Hyman's performance. Hers seems cleaner.

at around 30 seconds she absolutely fucked up, but this is not a song you play perfectly, you just play it as fast as you can
彼女は楽しんでいる。心から。そんな彼女を好きになりました
There should be more people in that auditorium
No, this isn't for everyone, but everyone in there should be someone, someone who understands and can appreciate - hell of a job
One point about this kind of music or boogie woogie is that it's just so much fun and so satisfying to play!
Excellent. Thank you for doing this.

Beautifully played. That note you hit at 55, keep it, it fits.
She played it so well

Awesome talent
Stride piano huh? Neat ❤
wowww fantastic !
bravo it is superb
This is the best performance of this finger buster I've heard by a modern second only to Willie the Lion.

Great👍👍👍
Fantastic! 😃😃😃😃
Wow!!!
She didn't win? How?
She actually played some notes wrong, I followed along with my score and pointed them out if you want to know exactly where
@@zed2466 sure

🌹❤️
she is a great player
Great!
Ah the good ol' applause-during. The dream of every piano performer. As if the harder you push them' buttons the more difficult it is.

이건 거의 뭐 묘기 수준이네요 ㅋㅋ
You can see her expressions, she enjoyed what she was playing ..
YES
Un gran clásico
I can see why is is called finger breaker!
Holy SHIT 🙏🏿🌹🙏🏿🌹🙏🏿🌹🙏🏿🌹🙏🏿🌹🙏🏿
What a technically difficult piece and so well played !!!!!!!
It s possible have tab?
Something is lacking in the left hand octaves? Dynamics? Pedal use?
It's an ok execution, watch the same piece executed by Dick Hyman, you will find it on youtube. Is on a complete different league.

@@razakza when you play a Jelly Roll piece, you stomp your foot. Or else you do it wrong

Amazing BUT what would it sound like if played SLOWER ?
間違いなく彼女は表現者である
Not quite Dick Hyman standard but really really good.
why don't people clean and polish pianos for a performance instead of leaving greasy fingerprints everywhere ??
Like Dick Hyman.. Amazing...!
Sounds like a classical pianist playing jelly roll.
Actually not, a classical interpretation would sound different.
Very nice but not in rag time.
Missing the syncopation
She plays the notes but doesn't swing.
Swings...but keeps it in the Park.
