I practiced accepting a liar for who he was. Eventually the world revolved around him and he took me for granted. I'm in therapy and showed her evidence of what was done to me. It is so bad that it is difficult for other people to understand or accept the truth of it. However, if others have a hard time hearing about it, think about what it was like to actually have to go through it. Wow, my story sucks but I know it will help others. I met a new therapist once (because I was forced, not my usual therapist); and she said “your mother says you think you’ve had trauma, tell me about that.”
I told her about one past experience that had been on my mind lately. She burst into tears and asked to hug me and cried and cried and rocked me while I kinda sat in awe. An hour later I felt like I was the therapist and she was the patient because of the shock my story sent her into.
Funny thing was, the therapist was asking because my mom thinks my trauma is all bullshit and centered around how she did me wrong (she did but I have bigger problems; my mother has become a fly to swat away). Anyway therapist was asking sarcastically so I’d mention my mom and she could bring up all my mom has done for me (because she’s not my therapist she is my mothers therapist and my mother is a psychopath and she’s tricked all the therapists into thinking everyone else is the problem.)
So when I didn’t even mention my mom it surprised the therapist; then it pissed off my mom.
Don’t even get me started the outright violation of privacy between patient and therapist; as well as her observational bias and the major ethical dilemma of seeing two patients in the same family.
