@@MikeDunn Yes, 0 to 60 is about 13 seconds. What that doesn't tell you though is how peppy it is off the line. 0 to 30 is about 3.5 seconds, and right at the start there is surprising punch from the electric motor (258 lb-ft at 0 rpm!) It really is fun to stamp on the accelerator at a stop light and just go whizzing away with no lag or hesitation.
Hey I have a question I see a 2003 Prius being sold near me for 4800 and it has 53000 miles on it. Would you buy it? I wanna get it but idk if it’s a good idea. What’s your opinion?
@@carringtonpageiv6210 I opted out because at the end of the day it was so old that the value of the car w depreciation was more around 2500 but they wouldn’t take that. I wound up finding a 2003 Lexus GS300 near me for 2500 and 165K miles on it. Driven it 3K miles and and it’s still running very well.
@@carringtonpageiv6210 I would def recommend looking into older Lexus models like the GS300 and IS300 they’re reliable and you can find them fairly cheap and they’re luxurious
Yes, you can start out on battery. This Prius will glide with the engine off below 40 mph. Not sure what you mean about the brake system but the front brakes are electronically controlled because of the regenerative braking.
I really appreciate this video. And 48mpg? Good job. What did you pay for the car? I'm about to get a 2001 prius with a new battery and in great condition for $2200. Only thing is it has 228k miles.
Update: this one is dead, BUT WE BOUGHT ANOTHER PRIUS! The main battery failed after 2 months of occasional driving. Discovered mouse smell in HVAC system. We realized it wasn't worth keeping and traded it in for a 2002 Prius with 110K miles, will do a video on it soon. Was researching old Acuras after I found out that this car died, but I'm glad I decided to stay on Team Hybrid. Miles per gallon equals smiles per gallon.
Everyone hating on these cars but these 2003 cars are so fun to drive, cheap too, good money ♡
How are they fun to drive if they are so slow?

Be weary of the very expensive $1500 replacement hybrid batteries. Make sure the one you're looking at has had its batteries replaced recently.
did you buy it?

Hello, I have a Japanese model that has a on/off switch in-between the side mirror adjust and brightness on drivers side...what exactly is that for?
I'm not familiar with the Japanese models, so I'm not sure.
@@aspecreviews Ok thanks anyways..
I have the Gen 2 Prius....someday I'll collect all the Generations.
Just saw one in the road, couldn’t help but stare.
Hi. What is the third pedal supposed to do? Is it the "handbrake"?
Yep. Pedal actuated parking brake.
Nice, thx for fast answer 👍👍👍

@@aspecreviews good to see some enthusiasm for such an unloved part of the auto market. Make more Prius videos!
