I am taking lessons, and slowly getting better, but there is NO WAY I would ever learn on my own. It takes tons of practice and dedication.
you can learn on your own and its better because its your own style and approach
You can actually learn on your own. Start with learning the basics. And, your instructor will fill in the rest. That's how I was. I got a basics book 10 years ago for guitar, and I learned scales, chords, and eventually improvisation. By the time I got to an in person guitar instructor - I was four years in. They helped me fix form mostly, and anything I didn't know in theory - they chimed in. I would then go on to being a better guitarist, but also teaching myself how to play piano because I knew what to look for. It's cool to be self taught, but sometimes having someone weigh in saves you time. That first year before I even bought a basics book was rough, but even after I bought the book and could read music - I didn't have a full understanding.
This is a fabulous story not just of his prodigious talent but also the love between a caring father and his son. Dad provided the space and encouragement for his boy to grow. This is just as touching as Isaiah's talent. And what's with the "lost" nonsense? He was NEVER lost. His talent was UNDISCOVERED, Big difference.
This is just...wow...
A girl from the tv show heroes has a power similar to this
This is amazing that's what we were created for to express ourserlves creatively
Thanks for the inspiring story!!!
Very inspirational! Incredible!
Awesome way to give back Isaiah. You are an amazing person.
Incredible talent. Makes my heart happy to hear you play.. wow.
What a wonderful story. As a self taught hack ear piano player myself - this inspires me. I can only dream of tickling the ivories like this wonderful young man does. This guys is clearly a natural! It does not surprise me that he’s a Berklee guy now. Among the best of the best!
I’m I’m extremely proud of you young man your gift is remarkable & exhibits great achievements already which have gained you a reward as well .
I HAD to revisit this. As a musician myself - this SPOKE to me. Beautiful playing, my friend. I hope you continue on! 👏👏👏✊✊✊

Isaiah Hill, have you heard of Darrius Simmons, he's a child prodigy as well who is a writer and composer , self taught pianist. You both should get together and do a concert. Awesome just Awesome. "A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men." - Proverbs 18:16
Such an inspiration. i'll go back to this comment one day when i can play just like you. I'm so pumped right now .
Thank you for your testimony. I too as a child self trained by ear. And about six months ago God talked to me about the school Berkley.
Does anyone know if he has a social media account?
😍😍😍
🎉
Black people are inherently gifted in music
What? This young man wasn't "lost". Why do people automatically stick those labels on black kids?
E Mack thank you for your comment!!! You are 100% correct, Isaiah wasn't a "lost" young man. Isaiah is my son. He has always been an intelligent young man. He really wish that they did not put that label on him,. Thank you for your words, truly appreciated.
Good for him. He achieved in a few years what those rich white kids and their parents could only dream of. Good luck Isaiah.
Still at Berklee?

Terrible voice over and commentary. Isaiah seems like a brilliant lad but this is a dreadful video. ‘Lost!’ ‘God given talent,’ please! Yes he has some serious talent but he also worked extremely hard. Isaiah, the very best of luck to you. I hope you keep enjoying everything that music brings to your life.
Great Video! Forgive me for chiming in, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried - Riddleagan Possessing Piano Remedy (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good exclusive product for learning how to play the piano easily without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my cooworker got amazing results with it.
yes God given talent! that’s doesn’t mean Isaiah didn’t work hard tho.
“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13
i play to learn piano. i’ve prayed about it and know that i’ll succeed!
It’s not hard to learn to play the piano on your own. All it takes are passion and sensitivity to music
Very good report. Well scripted.
pianist* not "piano player"
1:54 Running man challenge song.
Jospeh Wiltz he's playing isn't she lovely by Stevie wonder, I thought the running man videos were my boo
Who's here after he got arrested for beating up that woman? hahaha not surprised!
Ahhh the girls comments areannoying
Ken t...How can one person be so full of hate and ignorance. "Hours each day practice". Why not look this guy up and talk?
Forgot...that school of music doesn't give scholarships. They have a reputation to protect. So sad you think the way you do.
he is a very talented pianist and they show the basketball court for the first minute? because he s black? he has nothing to do with basketball!
This would make a great movie
