    Really dope tutorial!
    A side-note, if you end up seeing this. It'd be great if you verbally narrated everything you were doing. Most of the parameters are covered, but if the video itself is not fullscreen it's more difficult to follow. Phrases like "changing this value a little bit" or "bumping *this* up", when not specifying what it is means the viewer has to stop and look at your screen. Thanks for the amazing tutorials though, I'm a faithful subscriber now!

    Excellent tutorial! I also tried this using Tao and it's great. My only issue is i'm unable to fake the clarity of water. Can you tell me which property i should change? I'm not getting anywhere in my materials and light settings. I've managed something reasonable using blend modes but I suspect that's not the best way in this case.

    You can also do this pretty easily in a 3d program :
    1. Bend a cylinder which ever form you want the "water" to flow
    2. Add two noise modifiers that will ripple the polys (you'll need a lot).. one big and one tiny
    2.5. Displacement modifiers also work, with animating the gizmo of the uvw map or the size
    3. Add keyframes to the noise values
    4. Add material (duh) something glass ish.

    This stylized water flow tut is really useful, nice work. Question, is the control over flow path limited to the basic shape bending, rotating, and such you show here? Can you think of any way to apply this along a path? I have a 3D model, would like to composite the flow path of water on a layer atop a lower layer being this 3D animation showing a stack of these geologic units, water appears to move between them (simulate aquifers). Can be schematic shapes, not intricate conduits. Thanks for your thoughts on that.

    • @CreativeDojo
      @CreativeDojo 5 років тому

      Yeah Mir is more for static geometric designs, but Trapcode Tao is more dynamic and works with paths. You can create something similar using Tao and have more control over the path of the geometry. This would probably be your better bet.

  • @liomizar9910
    @liomizar9910 3 роки тому

    Great! And you can somehow remove the gradient background, but at the same time so that its influence on the water flow remains. So that the stream is on a black background?

    • @CreativeDojo
      @CreativeDojo 3 роки тому

      Yes, good question and I probably should've included that in the video. You can cut the background out by applying something like a Set Channels effect to the background and set it to the alpha of the Mir layer. It should cut itself out to areas where only the water exists haha. Basically you're using the alpha of the water to cut out the background.

    • @thejetshowlive
      @thejetshowlive 6 років тому +4

      Ohhh, I thought you meant POWDERED
      WATER. Indeed, water in it's solid WOULD be ice, very good. Looks like you took Chem 101. Sooo, water in it's gaseous state would be...hmm, vapors. Water in it's liquid state is...just, come on say it with me...water.
      And if you took basic english, you would understand the word "Redundant".
