I went back and watched your Bulleit Vs. Sazerac rye blind, from 2 years ago, and suddenly realized how much Erin has let her hair grow since those days! I guess you don't notice things like that when you see it all along the way. Anyway, it's beautiful! Keep growing! :-)

A smaller sip will give me the more subtle notes, while a larger one allows me to focus on the primary ones. I've never seen Very Old Barton, but I've always been able to find Old Forester 100. And while the OF is only 100 proof, I've never found it noticeably thin. And you're right, Josh - the Forester gives me the dark notes that I love. 🙂
All I could think of when Erin said ants, was the scene from the movie Big when the guy got mad at Tom Hanks and said you don’t just walk into a business meeting and say bugs😂😂
I bought some OF 100 whole on vacation this summer and was pleasantly surprised. My father-in-law is a Gentleman Jack fan so this was a jump up in proof, but with more flavor.
I enjoy watching the banter, the whiskey is a bonus. I have a bottle of both of these. The Barton was a longshot @$14. I'm going to mix the Barton with eggnog.
Great review as always. You two make me laugh. I just had Old Forester 100 yesterday and my brother gave it to me blind and I thought it was a Barton product and that was a $50 bottle. This bottle never crossed my mind and for the price is such a banger. Cheers you two!!!❤
I love not just the whiskey content. But love the grammar content too, cause I am the math and science person in our house. My wife and daughters are the English and grammar people in the family. One of them being a teacher and I always have to ask them how to spell certain words or when to use a comma in a sentence. Lucky for me none of them like whiskey, so they do not ask me anything about it. Yes I know there will be spelling or grammatical errors in this post! Love watching the channel!
I actually just found Early Times BIB in Ohio for the first time within the last month. Another bottle that I recently bought was JTS Brown but the JTS Brown that I bought in Ohio is only 80 proof and I thought during previous videos you had said that was BIB.
I bought a bottle of the 100 proof Old Forester, and preferred the 100 proof Coopers' Craft. To me worth the extra few dollars. I can only find it at more greedy stores, marked up to $35 to $37. For a little less cash I am a fan of the 100 proof Early Times. Down to $22 for the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad.
I used to buy VOB all the time when it carried a 6 year age statement and was available for $12. I don't think I've had it since the age statement went away.
I do something similar when I taste, I take a small sip and leave it in the front of my mouth and then I scoop my tongue under the whiskey and let it move across the top of my tongue like a wave that covers the whole tongue and hits all the sides as well. I keep doing that scooping motion a few times and then I leave the whiskey in the front of my mouth and I suck little bits of air through my teeth then I finally swallow it lol.
I learn something EVERY TIME I watch your videos! Who would have known that ants have B.O.?!?! Agree with VOB 86 is preferable BIB, but OF 100 better yet

VOB makes a much better Ky. Bourbon Pie, imo. There's a kick/bite w/ VOB that doesn't happen w/ Old Forrester or even more elegant, smooth whiskeys. The flavor is much different, too.

There is a VOB 100P that I've been getting this year for $16/750mL, but it's NOT the BiB they used to make. Watched all the vid & that must be a typo in the title, cuz only heard you both refer to it as VOB 100. For those looking for these, the OF 100 in 1.75L price dropped to $38 here. Only found them at TW. The VOB 100 is available in 1.75L for ~$30 in some markets, but not here.

VOB BiB was not amazing to me, but Old Forester 100 is a pretty amazing value. One of my favorite daily go-to's and great for home blending!

They have 80 proof and bottled-in-bond 100 proof versions of JTS Brown. We’ve not had the 80 proofer, only the bottled-in-bond.
