The movie displayed heroism, loyalty, knowledge, deceit, betrayal, false and inflated egos. It was a sit at the edge of your seat movie. No room for claustrophobia. Imagine how nerve racking it is to be underwater in a submarine!
Modern subs are a virtual Hilton! My late uncle was a U-Boat captain. German Uboats were not known for opulence!
Well, I know nothing about Navy submarine life, tactics etc. but I really enjoyed this film.
If Adrian Paul is in it I'm watching it. ❤

I was surprised to see the captain not wearing eagles.
Sub skippers were often lower than eagles (captain). My uncle was a natzi sub skipper at the equivalent of full LT. He barely made LtCmdr. At 26 he was the old man.

Served on an ASW US Navy destroyer from '62 to '66 looking for Russian subs. Not sure the Navy would give command of a boat to a Lieutenant Commander! It would be more likely to be given to a three-striper or even a four-striper.
In the UK, during WW2 some of our Submarines were Captained by "just" a Lt, or Lt-Cdr.
The black lieutenant commander was supposed to have been on three different cruise yet he wasn’t warring his dolphins😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

I wasn’t Navy, I was Army. The question I have is the rank of Lt with what appears to be captain bars on the female officer. Is it correct that a Navy Lt wears what appears to be Army captain bars?
And since when has hair touching the collar been allowed to females?

There's always hierarchy involved so why so much alpha male BS. Guess the writer wantd conflict for mor excitement. Noticed the handsome white haired admiral. He used to star n cop sho with Martin Milner n the 70s. This was a very good movie but too close for comfort because Nrth Korea is priming to push the "red" button.

I really enjoyed the story, to bad the quality of the production was so poor. There was no Navy or military consultant in the credits and this was constantly apparent by wrong uniforms, shoes, medals and insignia. Adrian Paul wears Lt. Cdr shoulder boards for the entire movie until the awards ceremony where he has Cdr boards. The Chief of the Boat (COB), the senior enlisted on the boat is briefly seen wear Lieutenant devices on this collar. Sorry for the spoiler, but the dialogue about why the COB is called "Dizzy" is crazy. Candidates in flight training are already officers, and transition into career paths, they don't become enlisted men. Paul in whites wearing black shoes made my skin crawl. Clearly no adult supervision on this production
At 17 minutes in I realized the producers definitely went low budget. So many incorrect general alarm conditions not set. They didn't bother employing a submariner consultant who knew fast attack submarines.
OK... so this was Kent McCords greatest role??? Who funds these movies? His parents??? 🙂
The Americans seemingly just have no idea, that In today's world of hi-tech Anti-Ship ballistic missiles, like the Chinese DF-21D - operational range (1700 km's) that can sink any carrier in the world, with a single hit. Sees all Navies without the ability to stop these missiles as basically obsolete today. Russia's Zircon Anti-Ship missile, though inferior in way of operational range - 400kms, it can be fired from Aircraft, Subs, and Ships, making it deadly to any carrier in the world. Russia also has the Brahmos and the P-800 Oniks Anti-Ship missiles.
We know the USA hasn't got a destroyer, or any other means, with the capability, to defend against these missiles today. Seeing the USA's Navy as pretty much obsolete in today's world. The distances, the US jets can travel is approx 500-650 (max) km's out - and the same back again = 1300 km's range. Meaning the US, is today, unable to deploy any carrier close enough to reach any inland target, and then get back again, as anywhere inside 1700 km's, they're sunk, they're toast, they're history.
This is also why when we see the US sending a carrier to the South China Sea, (as some kind of imagined propaganda threat toward China) when looking at the GPS positioning, of the US carrier in the SCS, they'll never be closer than 2000 km's from Chinas mainland, it's more commonly known as "bluster".
The USA has no capability to attack any militarily capable country with these modern hi-tech Anti-Ship ballistic missiles in their defensive armoury. If the risk outweighs any potential reward, gain, or result = obsolete.
The USA has nothing that can stop those missiles today, and China's DF-21D is a carrier killer. A manoeuvrable Ballistic missile (that doesn't need to follow a ballistic path), hurtling at your carrier?. You're doomed!

The majority of people dont recognize military medals , stripes ,or rank .They just like the action and adventure . They dont disect everything they watch in reference to military uniformity ranks and military procedures.

The whole "we don't believe you when you say you were attacked" is ridiculous, they've got damage from torpedoes ffs... LOL
The diving instructor always said, " If you screw up you are in DEEP trouble ". Yes there are defects in the move, but this movie is an exciting experience. 🦜
