Funny how the remake in gen 4 did it successfully while the remakes of gen 4 failed miserably
@@Endangeredworlds Sadly. We all were so hyped for gen 4 remakes, but it is was so stale and boring. Really nothing new was added. Really wanted it to be fantastic.

For those who don't know: The original Pokemon Gold and Silver were marvels of programming. It was only due to a file compression system created by Satoru Iwata specifically for the game that it was able to be as big and open and colorful as it was. If it wasn't for Satoru Iwata, pokemon as a series may not have lasted past gen 2. Speculation aside, it is undeniable that the series owes Iwata greatly for its practically unrivaled success.

Probably my favourite credits theme of all time. So happy and upbeat. The Gen II remakes perfectly book end the first four generations of Pokemon

Going back to it, I love how they kept that section in the chiptunes style. They knew it was special.
From 2:40-2:45 you can hear the Pokemon Main Theme in the back. Considering that Gold and Silver were originally supposed to be the final games in the series, the homage to the main theme is super fitting.
The funny thing is HGSS was also intended to be the series finale at one point

When gen 5 was brand new, it got tons of hate but now all I see are people claiming that gen 5 games are the perfect Pokemon games which I do not agree with. Kid, you can’t deny reality. It’s fine if gen 5 is your favorite gen but no need to lie bout it. Either that or you’ve been living under a rock.

A moment for the people that made Pokémon so popular that it's still alive. Some may not know, but Pokémon was supposed to stop after Gold/Silver but it just became too famous.

NessBrawl64 Not us, probably only the japanese because Pokémon had trouble getting the franchise outside bc of translation etc. But iwata helped with the localization.
Well, Gen 3 was after Pokémania. It still did good but needed a while to reach higher sales. There is a story with Masuda going to hospital because he made himself go crazy, thinking Pokémon would fail and the popularity went back too much
Pokemania is why they can't go a single region without shoehorning in SO MANY GOD DAMN KANTO REFERENCES

Also, D/P/PL was amazing, but, i feel it lost the pattern and easy going rhythm toward the end of the song...

2010- 11 was truly the best year for Pokémon. We got HGSS the perfect remake. Then one year later, Black and White hands down the best in the series IMO.

I really like how the staff roll for US/UM mimicked that of HG/SS.

the thing I love so much about HG/SS is that the remakes made Johto better than gen 2. Not only in looks but also in story, mechanics, music and pretty much every aspect imaginable. It wasn't a copy and paste like BDSP, and it wasn't a completely different game like legends arceus even though both of those games are great in their own regard, but HG/SS is way better.
The best Pokemon remakes, hands-down.
This theme is bittersweet for me because when I played through hgss, right before lance my save corrupted so every time I beat lance i had to hear this just to go back to lance's room lol
