@richardbertovich6134 Thank you so much. The name of the color is called Cranberry Red and the top is Creme Brulee. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I used to paint outdoors and would always start right after the sun came up. No bugs till about noon. By then I was done and the sun baked it the rest of the day. Wish I had a 57. Your a lucky guy.
That was the plan at least until I screwed up that gallon of clearcoat. We had to take a trip outta town to the closest paint store that had another gallon on the shelf. That set us back 2 hours. Ya 57's have a beautiful roofline, especially the hardtop. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It's looking awesome so far it is get in there it takes time to make it perfect it was so good to see your sister helping you and seeing your mom there with you you made it a family thing that is awesome
Hey David. You are correct, it takes loads of time and patience for sure. So far it's turning out absolutely beautiful. While this was the most difficult color I've ever painted, it's also the prettiest. But I say that on almost every vehicle I've built. Thanks again, David, for watching and commenting. I'll talk with you again on the next one.
Wow, somebody who respects the car like one should. No cutting it up to make it something it's not. That's 100% in my view! love the color keep up the good work.
Man I appreciate that. I do my best , especially on cars like these, to never cut them up. Your open to a much larger buyers market when the car is intact. Thank you very much for the compliment and comment.
@inthegarage342 I see videos here on youtube people cutting up cars turning them into something they're not, turning 4 doors into two, chopping roofs channeling the body etc...I cringe when I see that stuff, they believe they're creating works of art, but really destroying any value the vehicle held if they just kept them original. So yeah I agree with you whole heartedly.
@inthegarage342 yeah, I understand that, get a car so far gone that it wouldn't be practical to do a total rehab on not unless of course it was super rare but I've seen cars that with just a little tlc you have a nice car get cut up unnecessarily. Bad Chad is one of these people, his recent project, take a 1959 Volvo and cut it up. All it needed was a little panel work and possibly a little floor repair and possibly little interior work and he'd have a car some collector might want. He chopped off the roof shorten the doors cut up and reshape the rear end you name it turning it into something it wasn't. 1959 anything is rare these days and this knuckle head destroys it.
@TheGreatSnafoo Thats funny. I've seen some of his stuff. It's really not my kinda thing. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Although.......I do have a soft spot for a chopped and lowered 49 mercury in candy marron and flat black with whitewalls. Not to be too specific.
There slot that goings into a good paint job air pressure spray volume, temp. or weather wiping and rack in but even if all these a perfect t you have go relax and get in your rhythm or groove air pressure and speed remember taking your time can keep you from maybe having goo wet sand and paint again one of us wants to do that and if your in a shop you don't get paid for the second time! Good luck ,I had cara berry red 2dr. H hard top Belair back in the day.:)that
Lol, one of many my friend lol. Just kiddin. I do enjoy it. I'm starting the next video now......wet sanding and buffing. You gotta see this color in the sun. It is amazing!
@My2ndtimearound LOL, ya it'll suck, but I drive the crap outta all the vehicles I build. It's funny you say that. After I sanded and buffed the deck lid, I told my wife that was the best it would ever look lol.
@anthonygallegos5198 You may very well be right. What I wanted to avoid at all cost was giving the red an orange tint in the sun. Truth is that 1st gallon I mixed may have been perfectly fine. It want go to waste. Hey, thanks for watching and commenting.
@JackWilson-y1r I can definitely see that being an issue. I've never owned a booth or even a designated "paint room" of any form, so I've had to deal with those repercussions for 25 years. Most the time I figure it out. Thanks for the insight and comment.
You could have ginger the primer or used white or colored sealer and it would have covered better. looked like it was going on dry go thin to high air pressure even when started the clear it looked dry and not enough volume coming from the gun.when you slowed down and took slower passes it looks lot better heat probably didn't heat ether a little dab of pearl goes a long way! to much makes it look milky.
@geraldparker7008 Hey Gerald, Ya the primer was tinted with red. I was spraying at 28psi. As far as the clear, I was still gunshy from spraying this brand clearcoat (UPOL) the last time. That stuff ran like crazy. Although that was 4:1 clearcoat. Pearl in the clearcoat....that's a 1st for me and what a sharp learning curve. You ain't kiddin. Thanks for the insight. I'll take all you got. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love the color! This is gonna be one beautiful hardtop!

Great job! Can wait to see it cut and buffed.
Thanks so much, Greg. You want have to wait very long at all. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
That pearl color is a tough learning curve.
You persisted to amazing results.
@My2ndtimearound I see that. I had no idea it would permeate the clear to that extent. I know now! Thanks for watching and commenting.

@TheGreatSnafoo There's a place for that. I like rat rods and stuff like that. I just don't want to do it.

It looks awesom bubba. I had fun helping out. Ill help with the sanding this weekend if you want it.
Thank you Tita. I'll be doing some sanding if you wanna come up that would be awesome!
That's a big step completed. Looks great!
Ya, it really is. I've been excited to paint this thing for a while. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Down the road of time that first paint chip is going to traumatic.

It’s usually 50 grams of pearl powder for one gallon of clear I believe

Anything painted in the direct sun may dry faster and be a lighter color.
