Hey everyone, it feels great to be making videos again! Next week I’ll be looking at a couple of project boats and I’ll be taking you all with me. Don’t forget to check out the link nordvpn.com/wildlings to take advantage of the Nord VPN deal. Thanks to them for helping out the channel with this sponsorship! All the best, let me know if you see any interesting boats! Peace!
So glad you’re back!
Great to see you back at it Captain! Take your time on the new boat. Building a Wharram would be cool, but a proper space to build it would be the most important aspect. The rest is just plywood and epoxy. If circumnavigation is the goal, start there and work backwards and try to get as much, in terms of size, as you can. Bigger boats are generally faster, smoother and safer. A big "musher" from the 80s with a +1 inch thick hull of solid fiberglass would be pretty much bullet proof in any kind of seas you're likely to come across. All you need is a sound hull, all the rest can be upgraded over time.
Washington state does have several boat building locations, such as Port Townsend, where your fellow Brit and boat builder, Leo (@Samson Boat Co), is completing Tally Ho, but California has lots, as well and the weather may be a bit warmer, which could help with all the epoxy work. Check out the @Salt&Tar channel and their boat Rediviva. They started a build in Washington state, I believe, and finished in California.
The East Coast of America has some amazing old sailing and boat building towns in New England, as well. Check out @Tales from a Shipwright channel here to watch, Lou Sauzede, a true salty dog boat builder in action. The @CaptainQ channel here takes trips many of these quaint, little towns and shares a story on a boat of the week that is for sale (great resource for learning about older boats that might be in your price range). The towns themselves are delightful, but the weather can get a bit yucky in the Winter, just like Old England, I suppose. Further south on the East Coast are places like Oriental, North Carolina that have a long boat building and chandlery tradition too.
I'm down in Florida where we have boats galore! There are also lots of warm, cheap places to build them and you can get any materials you may need in virtually any town, so virtually no "shipping" of most things. Even the fish have boats down here. If you should decide on Florida, let me know if you have any questions about any particular places, or facilities. It's a big state with lots of different people and places. We're much more than Miami and Disney.
Cheers!
@@KarlKarsnarkBrilliantly useful comment!
I think you are on great footing here! A project boat and some "fixing" vids would make great content! Good luck!!
Tbh I am watching for you as well any boat: keep it going and keep us with you. You have a natural presenting style.
We are with you for the long haul bro. Great to see you carrying on and smiling.
I appreciate that ❤
The same came into my mind watching this video. Carry on! Greetings to Yoshi!
Your parents are amazing for driving all that way to get you.
Amazingly crazy
@@WildlingSailing 😮
The love of a parent. Nothing greater in this world. And you got two great parents.
why drive 6000mls when you can fly there for £200 ?
i worked out that trip cost £1500 in diesel alone plus accomo plus food etc etc so say £2000
@@WildlingSailing I saw you driving through Truro this morning in your Mini. About 10.30am.
Hey Mark, so happy to see your "soft" landing. You are so fortunate to have such great family and friends and so fortunate to have the wisdom to accept their help and support at this time. I am watching another "sailor vlogger" going through a relationship breakup and it's super painful to see him doing everything wrong, prolonging his pain and suffering, the opposite of you. It's still a tough time for you even with all the support but you are positioned to safely sail these rough seas with your awesome crew and come out a better man at the end. You are a great person with a great story and I'm sure most of us will stick with you regardless of your upcoming content and it's frequency. Take care, keep moving forward. Tim
Well said @Timhardman, truly awesome parents. I guess it"s safe to say it's heart breaking watching the other "sailor vlogger".
@@sailingvaliant Now you have me curious. I also wonder what happened to Shaun and Julia.
Oh shit that answers my question. Break up??? what the hell. How did that happen.
Well said, Well said. I am a subscriber to vicariously follow this amazing adventure from afar and-just maybe-get the gumption to start on an adventure of my own
Carry On, dear young man-you are an inspiration 👍
Don't worry Marc, we're still here for you ! Your parents are very nice !
Never commented b4 but this is the best episode you’ve posted so far! Home is where the heart is❤!
Cheers mate. It’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but glad you enjoyed it ✊
Keep filming your journey and the process leading to getting a boat. I'm here for your channel and enjoy even these videos of whatever your doing. I'm a fan of real life videos that a everyday person can relate to. So don't start gone to long. Record whatever and upload throughout. It all will help in your journey to a new boat. If you get a Patreon I'll sign up. I'm not familiar with kofi . Glad to see you looking ahead and happy for you my friend.
Cheers mate 👍👍 hopefully I can keep creating weekly for you :)
Great to see you back Mark 👍 P.S your folks are top draw.
Cheers mate!
Please don't build a boat it'll break your heart, I didn't even build our hull and it took us 3 years
Haha I’ll make a table and put a mark under refit/buy a good one/build depending on what people say 😂
@@WildlingSailing 😂 ps set up a gofundme I'll pitch in and most will.
I have thought about it, but don’t really feel comfortable asking people for money, maybe if I find a dream boat just outside of my budget :)
@@WildlingSailing I understand where you are coming from in gofundme, if you found the right boat (preferably another cat), I would contribute to the cause.
*Woohoo...this was the best video in a long time Mark! Proves that YOU are the down-to-earth Wildling star! Just share various types of videos showing your new journey and I'm certain the channel will now really take off!* 😊
Btw, cheers to your parents. You were born under a special star to get those two.You lucked out and landed on the softest landing ever.
First of all, you've got lovely parents! Lucky boy you are !!
And second: very nice to see that Joshi is still with you. I felt so bad when you said that you gave him away. He belongs with you!!
Nice to hear from you again and good luck finding the best boat!!
I mentioned how awesome your parents are to have your back in the past and this video really shows how a strong family stays together and are there for one another. Your parents Rock!
Mark you are very blessed having such a wonderfully supportive family. Your future is very bright and the 🌎 is your oyster! You go for it young man!
Love you, love your parents, love your dog- I am looking forward to seeing you do a project boat or new build- your boat work, and working with your father are the reason I watch. Keep it up!! Hope to see more of your family- your Mom and Dad are the BEST!
Your so blessed to have such wonderful parents!!!
Great video Mark we are all here to witness your next adventure 👍
Cheers, Tom ✊
Great to have you back Mark.
No apologies necessary.
Not a sailor myself but we’ll keep an eye out in my vicinity (Lincolnshire).
Owned 5 Minis in my time so feel your pain with rust, clutch etc… 🙂
Great to see you back, Mark. Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks for the update!! Can't wait to see your next boat!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good on you for keeping your head up and continuing on with sailing and the new boat hunt. I wouldn't recommend trying to build your own but it's not my call. Thanks for sharing Mark.
Thanks mate. Yeah, I’m meeting Hanneke from Wharram to discuss the process and get a better idea of the build
@@WildlingSailing I built a 40' over 2 years, best thing I ever did. When you build your own you know exactly what has gone into it. Buying used is always buying someone else's problems. It's not easy though & takes lots of time. People will love to watch on this channel though!
Fantastic to see you smiling and so optimistic, was a nice surprise to see you posted a video keep them coming your fanbase is still here and behind you!
I’ve met 70 year old guys with the dream of building boats .. the advice they give me was … NEVER BUILD A BOAT !!! … don’t waste your years and money . Buy the boat you want ! Loan the money however you can and sail straight away . Don’t waste valuable sailing time . Some of these guys never got to sail them !! Find a reposed boat , another project and do that , far more sensible . Whatever you choose Mark enjoy 🙏
Thanks for the advice! I think these wharrams are a bit different, the plans are aimed at novices, but that’s not to say they’re easy. Certainly one to think long and hard about
@@WildlingSailing I m pretty sure you will find your Tiki 38 or a Narai . Do not build. lt takes to much time . l wish you good luck . 👍
I agree don’t build a boat, a good friend of mine (and his wife) built a Wharram 38 which was great, but took 9 years to build and he had the spare time because he was retired. Buy one and enjoy!
Great to see you again. Don’t stress, you have a plan now and stay focused. We’re eager to see your adventures and will keep following your travels. Tally Ho made it big time and so will you. 👍👍
Good to see Yoshi on sort of dry land. Your dad’s a legend with those muscle cars. The Mini should be handy. Carry tools. 😊
Your ex-girlfriend (wife?), who missed her Chinese family and those who needed her help to survive..... living the flea in New York right now.. really managed to fool all her fans, including me.. wish you all success, you are not the first to be scammed... looking forward to your future adventures❤️🤗❤️
To be fair to her, she had a flight to China cancelled due to a lockdown. So she’s staying with her friend in the US + China isn’t the best place to be right now :)
She didnt fool yoshi
@@WildlingSailing nice guys, get the hard ones..
You are a star! Your videography and your story telling is exceptional. Completely impressed. Your parents are icing on the cake! Truly, this is wonderful stuff.
Home and a hot water bottle, lovely stuff. Plus your dad's cars....just when we thought he couldn't get even cooler. Good luck with the boat hunt, you definitely deserve it.
Hi Mark if you are ever up in Scotland and need a bed when looking for boats. Get in touch. Peter.
Mark & Co so pleased to see you and we'll follow you all the way to your next boat. Its great entertainment when your with your pals. Your a star mate and mum dad & yoshi make your chanel even more homely.
Those Parents are love for sure. Lucky lad(you know this). Sailing maybe where a lot of the good people have disappeared to. Good luck, Happy times to you& all company of connections.
Great to see you back and making videos Mark! If you ever need to crash down Bristol way then me and Jared can sort you out! (tho boats are pricey down here) best of luck man! Also your parents are legends x
You need to update your home page from by "us" a coffee to buy "me" a coffee 🙂
So good to catch up with you and your family again and see you in good form. I look forward to keeping up with adventures.
Hope you are doing good. A build is massive but would be such a series
Great update 2x👍
Love the video! So fun to see what you're up to and to see you getting through this time. It's so clear you're going to be just fine. I think we're all up for the new ride.
So glad to hear you're going to keep the dream alive and get another boat - we've watched you from the very beginning!
This channel is going to explode - you come across as one of the most genuine people we watch on UA-cam!!
We think you should buy a trusted and known bluewater capable monohull around 40ft ish (something that isn't too much of a crazy project) and invite people to come and share the journey with you - we would absolutely love to crew for you and contribute to the journey! We would be up for helping with the boatyard work too if it was in the right location.
Then all you need are some crew members willing to share their bikini shots onboard as clickbait thumbnails and UA-cam would send you to the top.... 🙄😅
Do congratulate Mum 'n Dad.........they are champions for your cause......What more can a bloke say ? The Future awaits you....go for it.
Mate keep posting videos even non sailing vids because we will stay with you through the search for the next one. Don't stress about it,,, all good 👍
Hey I know you already sold Minky but it would awesome if you can do wrap up video (final Video) about owning Minky. It just felt you left your views hanging and then just end with out an ending. Like most people.. I am wondering around the total cost of buying, refitting (repairs and overall cost of boat ownership). And then how much did you sell Minky and minus the cost of the refit/ownership cost?
Love and hugs to you and your fam Mark, best of luck and fair winds to your future travels - and remember, if you need crew members at any point, I'm sure many of us are ready at the drop of a hat! 👍⚓
Keep going 💪🏼 stay strong, the world awaits your arrival ❤
record your everyday life your fans will watch
Great to see you in a better space. Looking forward to you making the next steps, you can't go wrong with that land based support team! Bravo.
Hey Mark, good you’re back! I love the idea of building or restoring a Wharram design. One of the most inspirational yacht designers and sailors in my opinion.
Then you do it... don't you think mark learned anything from the last rebuilding of that decriped cat???
@@saylaveenadmearedead What a quaint reply.. As a matter of fact I do build boats and yes I think he did learn, not least of all that he is as capable as anyone of learning to repair or to build anything. Including decrepit cats.
@@orisj1,,Hear hear👏🤗👏🤗👏
...if you haven't already check out amazing wharram sailor and builder Kiana Weltzien on UA-cam
If you've ever watched Captain Q he has some great content on boats for sale mainly in the upper north east of the U.S.
Glad to see you back recording videos. Glad your looking happier. I’m not sure about building your own boat, it’s a multi year commitment that you have to fund the build and your life whilst you do the build.
Either way all the best, keep updating us i for 1 will continue to watch and support you.
Did i miss the video that explains what happened to Nadyana? Did something happen? No explanation?
Great to see Mom and Dad back, you two are special in a good way. Mark with the support of your parents move forward be safe.
Great to see you again. Your dad should definitely have a channel. Love the cars. Can’t wait to see more CONTENT!!
Please don't build buy something instead and get back out there
Thanks for the update Mark, nice to see you looking happy.
Great to see you again. Writing from a Grimaldi ferry, sailing to Italy. Couldn't believe you were really going back to Uk; its horrible! I just left and won't be back until winter is over. But then, your parents are lovely and that makes a big difference. You might find cheap boats in Scotland; I got a free salvage boat and fixed her up on the Clyde. She will be in the water next season.
Should be lots of salvage in Florida, too.
Warrams are awesome. Guy in Philippines builds them professionally, its cheap there , info on their site.
Check out also the notorious Hans Klaar, who built a 60ft twin hull voyaging canoe on the beach in Gambia...
I will look out for your next postings. Watching you all is like voices from home. We used to have a 1960's mini van, in the 1960's. It was rotten in the same places. Watch the subframe...
Keep it up; we are all rooting for you. xxx
Great parental help there Mark, mine were bricks when I went down a similar path , makes a hell of a difference. 😀 With you and your channel 100%, you dads collection is awesome , I had a couple of minis here in NZ a ‘65 850 (rust bucket) and a one year old 77 1100 clubman , rocket ship comparatively and used to tow my OK Dingy behind it, happy days 😀
I'm happy to see Yoshy clossing the other side with u guys and hoping Yoshy will see Nadiana again. Sad story of that sailing boat left in Greece but with good owner too.
Keep your head up and do something productive each day young man. Vlog your progress, we in the US like to see people rise up after struggles. If possible, Get a boat you can sail while you work on it. Don’t build a boat yet.
Mark well done! You and Yoshi will make a great team. I am sure you will have some great adventures together.
Go home, find a free fixer-upper boat (like Andy and Melissa did) work on it for a year or so, and film the experience. We are all rooting for you.
Good to see you moving forward and keeping options open.
Great to see you making new content Mark! Can’t wait for the new boat 👍

Brilliant, so happy you are continuing to upload, Your parents are amazing! Look forward to watching your new journey.
Been looking for a boat for a while now. The U.S. is not a place to look for a good deal. Greece Turkey and Brazil have so many nice cheap boats I cant make my mind.
Your parents are diamonds. And you young man has gone through too much hassle in in your young life. Buy a boat that has very little work to take on so you can get on with your sailing life
Have a look at 'Sailing luckyfish', no posted any videos recently, but sailed a Wharram 38.
Cheers
Good to see you making videos and smiling fella 😊 I look forward to seeing whatever adventures you get up to good and the bad 👍
Thanks 👍
Hey Mark! So nice to see you again. I really miss you and your video’s every week. Thank you for de update. Grtz. from The Netherlands
Great to see you back mate, and your parents are amazing. Stay positive Mark 😊
Well done Mark, I hope you find a really good boat. It’s end of season so there should be some brilliant bargains out there.
I love seeing your mum n dad Mark, It feels like I’ve spent time with my own 😂 glad joshi is still with you.
It feels like you should stay with the parents in blighty, Mark. I think you are happier with cars...?
Yes to staying with my parents for a while, but I’m alllll about those boats!!!
Nice to have you back again!
The best Nordvpn advertisement I have seen! What lovely parents you have! I like the episodes when they are in, shouldn't they retire and join you on adventures and form the new Wildling crew?
Think captain, your own engineer and personal chef. You can sail out on the big seas, without worrying about the engine and a stomach full of good home-cooked food!
Then you are king of the 7 seas!
Good idea, if I may say so myself, Or!😁
Ooooooh, I like that idea 😏
😂😂😂 I sense a dynamic trio coming along
@@WildlingSailing 👍👍👍
Hey Mark, Totally love this journey. Keep these videos coming.
Hello Captain Mark and shout-out to Mom and Dad 👋, always great to see you. Wowww, Dad has a Steve McQueen Mustang 👀 ! That's really cool. Good luck on finding a new boat to continue your dream of sailing ⛵️ around the world 🌎. Thanks for sharing, keep the videos coming and safe travels 🙏
i believe there are a lot of poject boats around Fort Myers in Florida...you just have to get them down off a roof.
Really great to see you back making videos excited for future plans. Take some chill time before you dive into the next adventure. Really enjoyed your video and good to see you so excited about your future again and glad to see you and yoshi still together mans best t friend
Cheers! Yeah I’m going to take my time, but looking at boats is so darn fun
Your parents are really great. I love that your dad's a Gearhead. Hope you find the right boat. I'm sure you'll be tempted by a lot of boat choices but here's my advice to you. I've owned a lot of sailboats since I'm an old geezer and this is my best advice. Full Keel with barn door rudder. No Keel bolts to worry about! 30 to 35 ft, tiller steering. Simple systems much less to break. Really glad you kept the dog he'll be a faithful companion to you. Sometimes they're a pain on a boat but I couldn't do without mine. You look happy I'm glad.
Keep this up. I like going along with you on this new Journey. Your parents are great!!
Great to see your first video, it was smashing👍
You have amazing parents, keep going forwards and follow your dream😀

Glad to see your still out there doing your 'thing"👍

Great to see you back. I’d watch your old man if he set up a channel. Legend.
Your dad appears to have a decent collection of old classics. Good for him. U should take care of the rust in that mini, before it gets too bad. Nice little car, I use to drive my ex brother in laws mini back in the late 70's cute little cars. Cheap on gas that's for sure. well enjoy your search for your dream boat, but I'd seriously consider building your own Catamaran.
Delighted to hear that you are ok and moving forward! Keep it up mate.
Until I bought my VanDeStadt 36 as a refit project, I had dreamed of building a Wharram 42 (Captain Cook). I love the design of wharram catamarans. They are not cheap and the price of wood has gone mad recently. Good luck if you deiced to build from new but you might be better looking for a second hander?
You say your keeping the dog, a couple of videos ago you said you had a home for him!!
You need to look for something well below $10k IMO. Something that's been abandoned and needs a new home. I think it's the cheapest option. Building a boat is probably going to be more expensive than restoring something that's been neglected.
Rebecca on Brick House was looking for someone like you.....thought you might see that and take a 'vacation' !!
Great to see you back mate. Loving the cars, your dad is way too cool. Good luck in your search and look forward to future videos.
So many legends in this vid! Super excited to follow your next project, best of luck.
Thanks for the update. Love your dad's car collection. I'm looking forward to seeing which boat you decide to sail next. I live in Florida and there are plenty of deals here for boats in your budget. Fairwinds.
If you do build a boat we’re guaranteed content for the next five years!. I strongly recommend another refit.
How about crewing for a bit????
I looked up the Tiki 38, it looks like there’s no central communal area and that you need to walk outside to get from one side to the other, is that right? Looks nice, low and wide but nice
Yup, not much interior space but such a classy and seaworthy boat
@@WildlingSailing reasonable price too, does the Prout Snowgoose appeal to you at all?
Please be careful and don’t get overwhelmed that’s a lot of work. To do that refit properly you will have to grind that hull from stern to bow . Personally I would steer clear . Don’t touch it, it’s not worth no more than a couple of grand
Great to see you making plans and going for it. Looking forward to the next episodes :)
Ok dad the American cars have hoods British cars have bonnets. C3 corvette yes it has a hood strong respectful. Lol nice cars and truck. Lol just messing with you 🤣
Great to see you doing well Mark, will be watching and supporting the channel for sure
Great inspiration! Adventures ahead!
Sincerely, I never really liked that Cat ‘cos it was a domed project.
Now! A clean slate. You’re about to buy a new sailor. Whatever boat you go for. You are welcome to Gothenburg, Sweden where I can show you around.
Here are some cheep projects.
