I attended a Police puppy training class a few years ago teaching how to get desired actions while training. It was a major dog trainer and the first two days we trained chickens to do learned responses and tricks for treats. You would be amazed how much you can train chicken to do
@@EC-dz4bq we set up an set of small traffic cones on a large 4x8 table . you could teach them almost any pattern around the cones you would set up. also to tell different shapes teach them how to pick out the shapes as well as colors not sure how they tell colors but reds and greens they could seperate.
@@rachel81962 Thanks! I may have to try some of those when I get the time. I prob still have some of my youngest childs shape blocks (colored too). Thanks! sounds fun.
I had several hens before getting a rooster. They tortured him unmercilessly while a juvenile but he did take control once he matured. He now herds, monitors, protects, and leads. He did run at me several times and i nudged him away firnly with my leg. We now get along fine.
Roosters are more protective than they are mean. They will defend their womens if they see you as a threat. I've learned never to crow back at my roosters. They will see you as a competing rooster. Chickens are AWESOME and I really enjoy your videos. Thank you! ❤
I agree. A truly mean rooster isn't that common. I have had two over the years that were even mean to the hens. And I mean attacking them to harm, not adolescent attempts to breed. They also did not protect their flock. But it has been a rare thing. Most are just protective of their ladies. I would never crow at a rooster, as you said it sort of invites trouble. Also never have too many roosters with your hens or that will cause problems. I have no more than one rooster to about 12 hens.
Bro might not be in the mood, fyi if you fertilized eggs I'd recommend getting more than a single rooster if possible so that you get more consistent results. 1M:3F or 4 depending on the breed would be a nice sex Ratio for chickens. Happy hatching! ❤
my chicken's coop never smells x3 I went to a chicken show and I was like, 'This is what chickens smell like?" it smelled pretty bad lol so yeah I clean my chicken coop a lot. I don't want them to smell. also opps I kiss my chickens. my babies are clean, free range and are pets lol I will give them kisses lol
I have a hen that stays in the nesting area. She is not on any eggs and if she does lay one, I remove it and I pick her up and put her in the area with the rest of the chickens. Is this normal and if not, what can I do?
@@joannballard3947 I had a hen who got broody. But wouldn't lay any eggs. I'm lucky because I have multiple roost boxes. So I would isolate her in the run of one roost box. Without any eggs to sit on she would eventually stop sitting and hanging out on a nest.
Maybe my chickens are just crazy but I have one hen that insisted on allowing another to sit on her head at night, at first I thought it was a one-off thing. Well it’s been months and I am shocked she didn’t poop on her head

Just fyi, I’m Filipino. Never tried it myself and wouldn’t want to, keep up the great content!
As a filipino, I eat twice as many balut to counter your mistake.
Balut tastes pretty good. Btw its not made of chicken but rather duck embryos.

I have a hen that started doing the same thing. She's always broody but hasn't laid any eggs lately.
