It is not the responsibility of schools to make pupils "happy," which is a temporary emotion. Pupils may feel happy when standards are relaxed, or they get to dictate the agenda, but that is against their long-term interests. It is the responsibility of schools to pass on subject expertise from passionate experts (teachers), so they can thrive in adulthood, thereby improving their long-term wellbeing.
Children don't actually feel safe, relaxed or happy in an environment with no boundaries set for where they stand.

My kids are grown and have young children so I feel I am in the middle of the issue about what is taught to my child in public school. I thank God that my kids grew up before the current woke curriculum with focus on gender identities and crt snd their educational focus was on academics. I live in Texas, a conservative state and my kids are fortunate to live in Dallas suburbs with great local property tax funded public schools and where the emphasis is academics. I was a very actively involved parent while my kids went to school. You have to be, specially with public schools. However in today's world i would be getting an extra job in order to send them to private schools or I would home school as sending them to a public school is a gamble of your child's future. This speaker needs to be heard by all parents. We as parents should be heard as to what is taught to our children. We are supposedly the silent majority, well it is time for us to speak up before it's too late. Our kids future as well as ours depends on it.
Being a child of a teacher and hearing the stories of the last 30 years of education, they are right there are a lot of parents that let there children get away with everything. It's not hard to discipline your child you are not their friend you are their parent. If my daughter spoke to a teacher like they do now I would be mortified.
I see parents try to ignore or appease more than discipline, they constantly have an excuse for everything the child does... and when I tell her the truth because she's a friend, through one ear and out the other

If she does something wrong or hurts another child I will explain what she has done wrong. She doesn't has phones and tablets and if that makes me a bad parent in some peoples eyes then so be it. I'm parenting the way my mother did. Plus she knows when to use please and thank you, not many children do these days.

Lack of discipline is a downfall for modern society. Public schools in the U.S. no longer disciple students, especially black students. Recently, a black female high school student pepper sprayed her teacher because the teacher took away her phone during the class!
Our maths teacher used to throw blackboard rubbers at us.
The French teacher used to call us imbeciles. We thought this was fair enough.
Very bad behaviour got you the choice of detention, or the cane. We chose the cane, life was too short.
I got the cane when I was falsely dragged into a scenario with other pupils. The practice of caning should have been banned well before I was at school. I've seen the damage that does to people and the horror stories that mum told me when she was at school of nuns was horrific.

I drive a school bus now and you should see the pupils on the bus and their behaviour, the students from safe family homes are polite and will talk to me, the students from single family homes (most I say there are some that are not the typical stereotype future hang abouts) are feral no manners very rude and disruptive village idiots.

Sure do love them enough. My children are grown but my grandchildren are just nearing school age. My husband, myself and our kids have sat down and discussed options and we have decided collectively to homeschool all of our children.

When I started school back in 1960 if you misbehaved you would get the cane in front of you're classmates it was called discipline and you would never tell you're parents or you would get a clip round the ear for being naughty at school. Now I am not saying bring that back again but we do need some kind of discipline or the kids will turn out into what a lot of kids are today, unruley. As one teacher recently said we are more child minders now instead of teachers. This is probably the main reason we are lacking in people wanting to take up teaching as a career and who can blame them?
