I'm not sure the reason behind the action but it is a practice in chinese culture, in Taoism believe. I will try to explain as much as I could. We do not wear the "mourning garment" in our daily life. For example, when my grandmother passed away and her wake was 3 days. For that 3 days wake, her children, their spouse and grandchildren have to wear what was known as a "mourning garment" which consist of a white t-shirt with a pin n black pants(this was in year 2020 so yeah, it is still practiced nowadays). We are to wear the same shirt and pants for that 3 days whenever we are at wake (mind you, we are not allowed to wash that set of clothing for the whole 3 days n don't accidentally mix up with someone's else). However, if we need to leave the wake location, we must leave the "mourning garment" at the wake location and change back to our daily clothes b4 heading out like maybe to get something from the store or going home for the night. However, when we are at wake, we must wear back the outfit. I believe that is why her outfit changed from the scene she is at the funeral and when she is back at her own Palace. It has to do with the practices during a funeral in Chinese culture. For clarity, my grandmother was buried according to Taoism rites and practices so I am only explaining it from my experience during her funeral n burial. I believe not every Chinese funeral practices this. Hope this helps :)
Because Chun had the most sons and was an all around good candidate for empress. Hailan set the kids to be her downfall and got her Karma when Ling set her own son to fail. Chun really didn’t do anything wrong.
Actually, once Chun was convinced by Jia to become the future Empress, she immediately turned on Ruyi. Right after the Empress' death, the emperor ordered both Ruyi and Chun to make arrangements for the funeral. But Jia told Chun she needed to think about herself, and Chun INSTANTLY took over and forgot about her friendship with Ruyi, ordering Ruyi to go to bed while she (Chun) did everything by herself. And she got worse from there. She insulted Ruyi for not having biological kids. And she generally started getting cocky, it was clear from the way she interacted with the other women. Hailan heard the insult and I think that sealed Chun's fate. To be fair, Hailan would've done it anyway to help Ruyi ascend the throne, but now she had an easy reason to move forward with her plan: Chun's disrespect was too much. Also, Chun didn't treat Yonghuang well anyway. So she wasn't that great a person. She heavily favored her own son and gave Yonghuang second-best everything. But she held onto him so she could have the status of the one who raised the eldest son. Ugh. It's funny, I think if Ruyi and raised him he wouldn't have been so obsessed with gaining power. But because he lost his mother and was neglected by his new mother, he felt a need to gain power to escape his bad situation. So Chun kinda caused her own downfall.

Why Hailan did this? I thought that concubine was kind to her and Ruyi
It looks like consort Chun used the chance to seize the power from Ruyi in aspirations to become the empress
Because Chun had the most sons and was an all around good candidate for empress. Hailan set the kids to be her downfall and got her Karma when Ling set her own son to fail. Chun really didn’t do anything wrong.
@@LittleClarinetPlayer yess
That's so messed up that they have to cry on cue!
ikr! Like oh my gosh the rich neighbor you don't know of died and you are required to cry like why do i need to cry for someone i don't know of??
That's like North korea when their leaders died.
@@chris9879 That's probably terror over what type of leader would be next, rather than grief or sadness though! (Given the VERY limited knowledge I have of North Korea!).
@@gemini6448 The Empress isn't 'some rich neighbor,' she's considered the mother of all the Emperor's children regardless of who birthed them. And being filial to one's parents is at the very core of their Confucian society.
Hailan reminds me of An Lingrong from the the legend of Zhen Huan.
Wow, I'm really disgusted with the emperor. Kicking women and children.
Yes he became a real Ass !!😦
Harlan is like me... accidentally summoned the end of the world....
I summoned to rest for a week... I didn't think the pandemic was the result of it.
Who is the real mother of Yonghuang, the oldest prince? What did Noble Consort Chun do to Ruyi to make Hailan plot against her?
emperial noble consort zhe .died in early episode.noble consort Chun want empress position . .
She wanna become empress and then consort Yu in order to make ruyi the next empress set a trap to make consort chun lost favor from the emperor.
Actually, Hailan and Ruyi also overheard Yonghuang say that he's using Ruyi's maternal affection for him to get to the Crown Prince position, and that's the reason she schemed against Yonghuang too.
