Pot of coffee and another great review. After learning about the merge technique (probably the first video of yours that came through my feed), I can’t imagine building a ship without some use of it, even if it’s just hiding components such as the shields. And as stated above, it must be built in as most of the Stroud designs take advantage of it with Viking cockpits.

In terms of functionality I like the Nova Galactic All in One Berth A over the B. The A variant has a research station in the front port position, similar to the Frontier module. Those electron beam particle weapons are a good pick for a squishy starter ship. Obviously if you deck it out with a better reactor the survivability goes up as well. If your weapons aren't up to par you can always leave the grav drive fully powered and jump away to a new star system in 1.2 seconds.

I thought I would love the Frontier forever. I will keep it for it's lore and for nostalgia. But with flying Free Star? I want more. Hoping to move on at some point. The mystic of some Va' ruun ships is appealing. First I may add more of a Space Truck ship for transport and hold on to Star Eagle. Some say you can run the entire game flying Star Eagle. Really like your merge modifications, maybe a Frontier-ish ship has a future in my hanger.

Glitching has been around since Fallout 4. Not high on the "fix" priority, I'm willing to bet. I use it, but sparingly because I have had one issue with it. I used the "flip" glitch to merge one of the long Nova cowlings into the upper part of the bridge.
When I went to get into my ship, there was no ladder. No, that had been magically transported into the middle of the Akila badlands. I know this because I fast traveled into my ship. When I exited, I was in the badlands with a disembodied landing bay ladder and hatch.
Removing the cowling fixed that right up. Now, I only use glitching with non-Hab/Cockpit modules.
Edit: Bethesda also uses a form of glitching. Try removing the cockpit from the Ecliptic Falcatta and then putting it back.

Yeah, I tend to stay away from merging stuff into the habs, too. I also have noticed some of the default ships using the merge glitch.
Hopefully, at some point, bethesda improves the ship builder by loosening the requirements on certain pieces.

Don't get used to merging. It is a bug... and is probably causing further bugs you are unaware of. It should get patched out.

I believe the frontier is a custom version of this ship

@CrimsonFlyboy that is what it is. Nova Galactic ships are Ancient and Old. The Discovery Class is the first spaceship capable of traveling the galaxy according to Lore. The Frontier is a modified version of an Ancient Discovery Class. That is why it has different engines. The Frontier's engines are Repowered and modernized engines just like the Frontier. Because the Discovery is a 200 year old ship just like most of the Nova Galactic ships a.k.a. NASA Successor.
