I still recall nearly fainting at Naomi walking in that black coat and the dramatic manner that she takes it off. I saw it on opening night (I think), which was a Friday at the theater on 3rd Ave in the East Village. And then it was years before one could buy the movie and watch that part over and over again. And now, anytime I need to see it, it's on UA-cam.
It didn't make you look shallow... it showed just how passionate you were / are about your fashion. It was clear how important those reviews were, for your business. It gave me hope that even in our crappiest moments, we could remain true to our passions and succeed.
In the mid nineties I was in my 20’s what a decade! I have been a fan of yours as long. When I was a girl, the model for Charlie perfume lit a fire for fashion and advertising. Thank you for these little vignettes.
Thank you Isaac, I watched Unzipped many many times, and I’m glad I watched it in real time and see how it’s got one of the most iconic moments in fashion history. I didn’t see your reaction to reviews being shallow, but that definitely gave a good starting point and closure for viewers in the movie as entertainment. The inspiration, thought process, production, and the show, all were so interesting and amazing!!
Isaac, I love Unzipped and have been rewatching it this week. It is always fresh and always giving! Your openness in sharing your PROCESS inspired me as a creative. You are fabulous in every way and look incredible. Timeless, classic and brilliant!!
Oh Isaac, I am such a huge fan! Where to even begin…ever since I can remember you’ve been a part of my visual and cultural lexicon. I was a young teen in the 90s and a serious fan girl. I watched unzipped on vhs 📼 countless times. I wrote about 90s fashion for my thesis in critical theory from SAIC and now am in my late 30s and a lot has changed but I am still an Isaac devotee! I love your point of view and perspective and just think you’re fab! I watch you on qvc with my mom and this might sound weird, but we don’t always agree, however we 100% agree that you are wonderful. Anyhoo, I wish you all the best and more and I hope to catch one of your live performances soon! Thank you for being such a light.
Unzipped wasn't "about" fashion, it simply was fashion, because you were & are fashion. You are a genius & icon, & a truly wonderful, & very special person. Thank you for everything!!🩷🩵💛
Dear Isaac ! Unzipped is everything !!! I watched more than 50x for sure, it always brings me such joy and inspiration, i admire you immensely ! Sending you the biggest hug from Brazil
I have "Unzipped" and watch it periodically, and your book is one of two that face outward in my bookcase. (Elton, being the other) I enjoyed your book immensely!!! I just love you...from a hundred years ago, there's just something about you. I imitate your gestures and your laughs and chuckles are precious. I just love you!!
I was very fortunate to see the original screening, and I LOVED IT! It was so authentic….. yeah, okay, it captured your reaction to a bad review, but we saw what you went through to create the next collection. I LOVED Linda, Eartha, and your interactions with Nina in the Documentary. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us. Have a Great Night Isaac on the 10th!
I've LOVED this movie since I saw it when it came out and have rewatched many times! The scenes with you and Polly Mellon are a hoot- I love how you describe Loretta Young in Call of the Wild. And the Girls- what a moment in time. I'm so glad that it was captured on film, (this and the George Michael's Freedom video captured their amazing beauty) and I'm sure they are, too. Thanks for these video, too!
My favourite scene in Unzipped is Isaac and Cindy Crawford when Isaac talks about going to Shea Stadium for a baseball game and how the halogen lights made the Astroturf neon green.
Unzipped is the BEST DOCUMENTARY ON FASHION ever!!!! I remember how bad RTW by Robert Altman was and your movie came in and TRIUMPHED! You were lucky because your movie literally captured a very special moment in fashion.
If we were to distill the magic of 90s fashion into one melting pot, this film is IT! The documentary teaches us how hard you need to work and how much you should embrace life to make your dreams come true. Isaac, in my loudest opinion, propelled (the madness of) fashion into the 21st century.
Just wanted to say hi! Gut Shabbos from Nice France. I have a whole collection of your sunglasses that I bought in Miami 15 years ago and people always ask me about them.. I love Unzipped.. I saw it several times with my now ex husband who looks A LOT like you .. wish I could send you a picture haha. Have a lovely day!!
▪︎Ever the Libra Contrairian... "Extremely gauche to have a Film Crew following u around in the mid 90's. Especially Paris." ▪︎ One sentence Isaac.... = Robert Altman, 'Pret-A-Porter', 1994 🤐 ▪︎ Or is that "somehow different." ▪︎ Silly me, silly me 🤦🏼♂️ Altman was so gauche the French awarded him the Légion d'honneur

I loved the film! It was real, Issac’s emotions and his passion for classic films and fashion shows in this film. ❤

I loved Unzipped! It was so much fun. I would have loved to see it again especially if Isaac was on hand to answer questions!
IT's one of the greatest documnetaries of all time!!!

I still find Unzipped inspiring. I was lucky during that time I got to go to both your studio and the show. So fun!
My favourite scene in Unzipped is Isaac and Cindy Crawford when Isaac talks about going to Shea Stadium for a baseball game and how the halogen lights made the Astroturf neon green.
I have multiple copies of that DVD.... just in case one ever breaks. Looooooove it... and looooooove you!

this movie is so sickkkkkk and Issac is great in it!!!
And Sandra Bernhard singing Mighty Real! I die!!!!!
Genius movie, genius man. Adore!
I really loved this movie
ICONIC 🔥🔥😍
I wish I could find Unzipped to stream. I’ve watched it a hundred times and could watch it a hundred more.
I luved that movie
I think there would be a market for all the unedited footage. Especially of the supermodels. I'd pay!
I love the documentary.

Oh I wish I could be there on the 10th. 💜
Isaac can you tell me what the intro music from your videos is? I want to use it as my ringtone!!
Ummm, I quote this movie daily, just saying. Love❤ "alone, on the Tundra" was a fav
I wish you were a guest in Naomi’s yt channel.

Love "Unzipped." But "Truth or Dare" (1991) was four years earlier. So to call them "simultaneous" is misleading.
I could listen to Isaac for hours!
In my bed
Yes, me too. He is such a gem.
I didn't see you as shallow at all.
