Congratulations to the club for 75 years. That is quite the accomplishment. The club I belong to hits our 75th Anniversary next April. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Congratulations! This is a beautifully filmed and narrated video of an awesome layout. Especially interesting to me as a WNC native (Asheville). When I was a young teen, my dad bought us tickets to ride one of the last SRR passenger trains from Asheville to Old Fort. And I was thrilled recently to ride the loops again behind the N & W 611 from Spencer to Asheville and back. Your video and layout brought back lots of wonderful memories. I hope to drive up there and visit y'all soon.
I was a member for a few years in the early '80's. I drew a track schematic for the entire railroad on a J (roll) size sheet. Worked with Bruce building decoders for the CTC-16 (pre-DCC) command control system (see Model Railroader for plans), and helped build the fast clocks. I was running trolleys in Statesville when Irv's passenger train (with full interiors) broke free, ran down the grade and pitched on the floor (yikes!). That grade is steep and long; a serious operating challenge ... just like the real one. Congrats on 75 years! I'm glad to see the trolley line still runs and all the overhead wire is in. The scenery and operation have come a long way in the last 40 years! One aspect your video misses is UNDER the railroad. It's like a jungle gym for old guys! I guess I'll have to stop in for a visit this year.
I used to be a member of the club. Because I don't drive and I live in Maryland, that is a long ride by metro and bus. However, I still have fond memories of the members and having had the opportunity to run some trains. Dr. Sylvain J.R. Garceau-Bergeron
Where as the bulk of the club is nice, I do have to say. where the one station is right up against the wall it really ruin's the look and feel of the scene. you can tell it's compacted and just doesn't look natural. and the one factory with what ever the dark mass above it is. looks like what it's a town built under ground? again the dark mass above it ruins the effect and makes it stand out toyish, and fake looking despite all the work on the scenery and details.

Thanks Jimmy. Here’s to many more decades of success for the club and its members.
Congrats to the club for 75yrs…nice video presentation of their layout
Congratulations on 75 years! Thank you for the layout tour.
Glad the club found a suitable home. Was devastated when I heard about what happened in Alexandria.
What happened to it

Great layout and video, I enjoyed watching that.

Fine Southern railway layout
Wait. So, this layout is somewhat modular?
The benchwork and framing below was built that way, but the trackwork, scenery, and electronics aren't.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I was in a club that lasted 30 years but I moved to Florida and the handful of other guys just aged out
The Southern Railway's Potomac Yard??? Incorrect, Potomac Yard was an RF&P owned facility.

Ok then you go build it then. If you want everything exactly realistic go build it 1 to 1 in real life.
Is your big layout better?
Wow this is a dynamite layout
