It would be nice to hear how it compares to the EA1000 (I don't think you have it) or the Performer 8 given it's cost. Thanks for the review, I've been eyeing this one since the anniversary sale started.

You're right, I don't have the EA1000. In my opinion, the Himalaya offers a more detailed sound with better bass compared to the Performer 8. However, its upper midrange can be a bit bright or edgy. On the other hand, the Performer 8 has a more gentle sound signature with excellent treble, though its bass might not be as strong as the Himalaya's. Both have their strengths, so it really depends on what you prefer! If you're into bass and detailed sound, the Himalaya could be a great choice, especially with its anniversary sale pricing.

Nice Review! Thanks a lot, my Himalaya are on the way. But regarding sibilance: If you look at the FQ response curves, you can see them peaking at around 4.5 kHz and 8 kHz. Inbetween there's a clear dip. So, I guess you heard some sibilance only with certain female voices... true? ...and if this singer has natural sibilance in her vocal expression, then it is also reproduced with this IEM. I'd try to EQ it out a little bit.. lets say -2dB and a rather high Q value to not affect other surrounding FQs. But be aware, if you EQ frequencies above 5 kHz, it can be a hit or miss... you have to directly A/B it on the fly if you touch the 8 kHz... it can be a bit of trial and error... but fiddling around with 4.5 kHz should be quite easy to get this peak better under control. Greetings from head-fi 😉
p.s.: try your Type-E tips, they should bring the "edginess" in the upper mids and highs better under control.

You're welcome. Ah, Head-Fi! Then you should join the channel's VIP club. 😄 Seriously though, you're right. I only experienced the sibilance with some female voices in certain songs. Looking back, I think "edgy" would have been a better description, as it sometimes pushes the boundaries while sounding comfortable 90% of the time. In my opinion, it's still worth it for the level of detail you get with this IEM. Interestingly, this peakiness disappears with the Blue nozzle, but I prefer the sound of the other nozzles. I'll try using Final Type E tips and a high Q -1 to -2 dB EQ to reduce the 4.5 kHz peak and see if it works. If it does, it will be perfect. Ah, Final Type E, that's why they are my favorite silicone ear tips! 🎧

      @@Atechreviews Thanks for your reply!
I'm following your introductory thread on the new Elysian Pilgrim, nice job.
Concerning the Type E tips, yes, they're nice and they're narrow bore tips. It's in their acoustical nature to dampen the higher FQs a little bit, as nearly all narrow bore tips do. Also, if you like to fiddle around more with the Himalaya, try to get the Sigmot Nozzle tuning kit. These nozzles are a bit longer and might further improve the sound signature.
