After setting the trap i walk up to them aggro them and get them to chase me and i run over the trap and gets them 100% of the time no waiting involved and them off to kill critters to feed it
I usually try to minimize the inventory space my "shelter" takes up. Now I use 1 floor, 2 roofs (1 floor is enough to get it snapping and if you crouch under the lower part of the roof you get the shelter buff.
That sounds reasonable lol. Course once you have reinforced glass, which weighs very little, it's nothing to carry 4 walls and 2 floors. My later game Arctic survival kit is a glass box, and the heater from the workshop with a container of hydrazine. Add a thermos of coffee (coffee with cream after the latest update) and you're all set.
Thank you for showing hot to send the wolf to orbit. I was struggling to figure that out. Didn't realize all you have to do is to select the animal before doing the send. By the way, can we also tame regular (non arctic) wolves?
It does indeed. I don't think it's something they'll change but I could be wrong. I first discovered you could do that over a year ago. I realize the plot of this game has more holes that Swiss cheese but in this case it sorta fits. You're not able to bring materials from the planet to to the station (except exotic) but since the drop ship isn't going to the station when you call it to your location that rule doesn't apply.
@@benny9 Absolutely, game has changed a lot since alpha but for the better imo. I can suspend belief for QOL changes. Thanks again for the great videos.
Those aren't backpacks, but I see why you would think that. One is the farmers satchel, the other is the first aid satchel. They're like extra storage for specific types of items. The farmers holds seeds so they don't take up room in your main inventory and the other holds items like bandages, splints, tonics, etc. As for the hipfire, you just get a feel for where the shot needs to go. There are also talents and attachments that increase accuracy. Offhand I can't remember how I have that character set up. Lol
@@FemWonder_o Craft the seed pouch as soon as you can. It's the lower quality version of the farmers satchel. I don't even think you need to unlock it. Saves a bunch of space. When you harvest seeds they go straight into the pouch automatically.
i tried back and forth so far i only successfully got 1 wolf in 3 tries .. 1 time the wolf would not tame , the other time it broke free for some reason even with tons of food, those wolves are really not worth the trouble in my book , it is not like they can actually fight of a bear
Yeah, a single wolf is not that useful for much besides light base defense. But a pack of them can do some damage. If course they run so slow I don't find it practical myself. I have learned a couple tricks since I posted this though. First, you can kite the wolf through the baited trap instead of waiting for them to take the bait. Second, apparently you can re-bait the trap and the wolf will eat it, and not be released. Much more reliable than trying to get it to eat dead animals. You can also use the generic "animal bait" you can make at the cooking station if you have that unlocked. I need to do an updated video soon.
@shadowkaster6073 if you only get one, get New Frontiers (Prometheus). Prometheus is how I envisioned this game back when they announced it years ago. But use the base game first to get leveled up and learn the ropes because Prometheus is more difficult.
Hey, not sure, do you mean they aren't leveling up at all? Like they just stay level 1? They always start out that way but they should gain levels fairly quickly. There might be a current bug or something. I'm working on a video about taming mounts, I'll see if that happens on our server in a bit here.
@hicube82 Yeah, that's really odd. I just checked ours and all is fine. Just tamed a new moa as well as checked an existing one that was already at our base. We were having tons of problems on Friday after the update with all kinds of game systems. I had to verify the server files Saturday morning, and then everything was fine after that. Maybe give that a try.

Well that will certainly speed things up. Don't know why I didn't think of of that. Same tactic I use for trapping frogs in Don't Starve. Lol
Oh got to try this out when I get home! 😀
@@sirnukealot84 yeah works everytime simple as
saves waiting for them to eventually wander in
Same here - no wait and extremely easy!
This is so cool, thanks for a vid.
No prob!
Awesome video! New Sub. Keep up the good work.

Thanks prospector! Editing Ep. 3 of the beginner series as I type this. Appreciate the support!
@benny9 editing my own series right now as well! Looking forward to it!

Are you a part of a Icarus discord group? Finding an Icarus player in the wild is a fools errand.
Nope. I despise discord. Lol
I'm on Reddit but that's about it for social media.
They level up quicker if you use an autofeeder and omni food.
Thanks! I'll take a look at that.

Yep, both the wolves, boar, and hyena.

Im new to Icarus so im wondering why are you holding your backpack in your inventory and how did you have such good accuracy with hipfire.

No. But they keep hinting that other animals are going to be added so maybe some day. That would be awesome. Lol
IS thi just the base game or do you need a DLC for this?
This is just the base game. I put about 450 hours into just the base game before finally breaking down and buying DLC during this last sale.

dont know if i am bugged or something, but always when i tame something, and start feeding it, it disappears. when i return to feed it more.
I've heard of that happening but it's never happened to me personally. I never go far from the share while taming, maybe you're getting too far away?
