Ren plays lead guitar in Icarus. When you do that one, you have to do Behind the Push Icarus at the same time or right after. Ren fingerpicks often 😊 which is considered more difficult. He plays all styles on acoustic, not just the Spanish style. When your ready do Ren's Spontaneous Stream Jam. It's awesome. Also, most fans of Ren are fans of The Big Push.
He's also using his thumb for the bass notes. 👀
EDIT: Romain is more a lead guitarist, which is pretty much "i'm that guy who PLAYS guitar", especially when it comes to The Big Push. Ren on the other hand uses the guitar as a tool to help him write and convey his written words. Though I do think Ren can shred, and we might just see that on his next project.

Great reaction. I would venture to guess that most Ren fans are the Big Push fans. I think a lot of us found Ren due to the UA-cam algorithm. Thus, most American fans discovered Ren before The Big Push. It’s just we fell for Ren (as most people do), and hurled ourselves down the rabbit hole as fast as we could. I believe that a lot of us spent our lives loving music, but just couldn’t find the caliber of music we raised ourselves on. Ren is the answer to a lot of people’s prayers. Ren brought music back to a lot of people that had started giving up on music. I like my artists to use auto tune for effect; not because they can’t sing worth sh*t. 😉❤️✌️

It's hard what Ren is doing , especially since it's a mash up after 5 EDM songs by FRED AGAIN
Playing with a pick let´s you play with...a pick. Playing without gives you one thumb and four fingers. The magic is basically in the style (fingerpicking style) he´s playing. You need to get the thumb moving independent from your fingers, so you can play basslines with the thumb and melody elements (rhythmically often conflicting with the bass) with your fingers.
DOn´t get me wrong, you can do a lot of things with a pick, but you don´t beat fingerpicking;)

Let's look at the type of artist Ren is to answer the question, Guitar Solos, Ren or Romaine?.....First Ren always gives room to whomever he is performing with, whether it be a collaboration or with a band. That said, so far yea we've seen Romaine shred it on Lead Guitar, which is what a lead does. But trust me, if there were to be a hypothetical battle of the Guitar Solos...Trust me, Ren can do it all and I am certain he could easily match Romaine, if not exceed. But that's not Ren's style, he prefers to give space to others to shine and then syncs his own performance to blend with perfection. As someone else mentioned, check out "Icarus" performed by the Big Push, Ren shreds hard.

Not only is he talented musically, Ren is very good at producing his own music. He does his own mixing, Ren spends hours finalizing the songs. He is a rare breed. Good job gentlemen! Great reaction. Renegade here.
He also edits most of his videos, including HI REN. I LOVED the camera work on this and gave REAL PROPS to the cameraman... then I saw the bts, and Ren is telling him movement by movement where to put the camera. "Start here on the floor." "End panning over the neon pig to the city." "Shoot me from below here so you can see the fretboard." "Do an extreme close up when I start singing 'I've been lost'". It turns out that almost everything you see and every sound you hear in these videos is ALL REN. I've NEVER seen a talent like him since maybe Leonardo Da Vinci, and he couldn't beatbox for shit.

He wouldn't be able to do what he's doing with his right hand with a pick because he's playing the bass notes with his thumb. picks i think are mostly used for heavier playing and probably for different strings? not sure tbh. Ren plays a lot like a spanish style guitar, flamenco-eque and stuff. Rodrigo y Gabriela do a lot of stuff like that too, playing the guitar and using it like the percusion too.
yeah, you gotta be very comfortable playing the guitar. though, once you're able to play without looking it comes natural to do both, barely any thought involved really, just rolling with the flow. consider it like singing a favorite song, you don't have to actively listen to the instrumentals to know when to sing, they just sort of fade into the background while subconsciously you're keeping track of the rhythm.
Would love to see u check out some of his older songs from Demos 2. Ready for you and Hold on are my faves but every track is fire. Great reaction guys...this song was fucking gorgeous! You’re not wrong - what he’s playing is excellent, but some of the points you got into were hilarious. I’m not great on guitar but having watched some professional guitarists break down how good he is, i have a better appreciation of it.
By the way - Ren taught himself by watching people on UA-cam and slowing it down to copy what they were doing…that and thousands of hours of practice.

I remember your first Ren reaction! That’s when I subbed to your channel. It was Hi Ren and you went from being WTF is this and laughing lots, to serious faces and being blown away by it by the end. It was a journey for you but you guys were captivating and it was like something had transformed and expanded your minds in front of our very eyes.

Most Ren fans are Big Push fans but the get lost because of the search function. If you search for new Ren videos you can miss new Big Push reactions. I know I often forget to search Big Push too and when I do there'll be a bunch I want to watch.
