    I am pretty new to recreational climbing (SRT) and it is just crazy-fun. It was scary at first, but I am growing more confident in my gear and abilities with each climb. Even old guys like me can have a lot of fun on a rope!

      @@SuvisJournalism I was almost 70 years old when I decided to learn to climb, and last year I climbed an old growth fir tree. My goal is to climb and learn as much as I can while I am still able. It is great fun and wonderful exercise. I'll be 72 years old in May, and hope to keep climbing for many more years.

      @@340wbymag Wow, that is really impressive!! How big was the fir tree? If it was old growth, it was probably enormous :)
      And I am guessing that with your strength and vigour, you absolutely will be climbing for many more years to come!!

      @@SuvisJournalism Some old growth trees are over 300 feet. I didn't climb quite that high. My goal isn't to climb the biggest tree, although that would be fun. I just want to enjoy the exercise and play like I did when I was a kid, and so far, I have been pretty successful at that. When springtime and early summer rolls around I will climb trees in the local mountains or near one of the local rivers and just sit quietly so I can watch for animals like deer, elk, and bears.

      Nah. It’s actually pretty safe. Accidents happen bc of human failure and not bc of the gear.

    Must be nice having a safety line, I enjoy mine exploring which is SRT so a single rope with no safety backup and a much more "basic" descender as his would get gunked up with mud. Really interesting job though, I'd love it, the only bad thing is going back up the rope. I'd be going to the bottom and getting the lift back up 😂

      Lol, thank you so much for taking the time to comment :) Yeah, it's a great story :) I always assumed that rope access technicians would experience no fear about their work, so it was even more impressive for me to hear that sometimes you have to overcome a very real fear to work on the ropes :) Thank you again for stopping by, it's great to discover your channel, too!! :)

      LOL, I could not agree more :) His name is Piper, and he is in so many of our videos. Either featured, or in the background, or barking, or video-bombing a reel by destroying something we are trying to highlight in a video. We love him though, even though he can be so annoying at times :)

      @@trevethan82319841 That would be good practice for heights, that's for sure! We live in a high rise building as you can see, and it actually took me a little while to work up the courage to stand right near our balcony railing. I have a fear of heights, too :)

      @@SuvisJournalism I live in a apt in a small town and it sucks that the park here the town government doesn't allow tree climbing because of safty and insurance reasons but I miss Philadelphia I would love to go repaling off of a old railway bridge

      @@trevethan82319841 That would really be cool off of an old railway bridge :) I know what you mean about town governments, they can really suck :( The council here kept parks closed for kids, well after the risk of COVID had passed, so children had nowhere to play outside.

    I got battered by an old lady once because her man got a frught.
    I was installing LP and on a bounce I landed next ti their window. She beat me with he handvag. 🤣

      LOL, I shouldn't laugh but you made me laugh to read your comment. You poor thing!! And you're up there doing important and dangerous work!! I feel for you :)
      On another note, I often wonder what rope techs have seen in their day. Once we had rope techs doing the windows in our high rise and I forgot and accidentally came out of the bathroom, fresh from the shower, in the raw, and spotted them just in time to grab a towel, just before I gave THEM a fright, ha-ha :)

      Once there was a girl who rubbed stuff in her bits for all to see.
      My men knew every morning she would do it.
      I had to go to her doir and ask her to shut her curtains.
      She tried to sue. She failed.

      @@SuvisJournalism I have no priblem being Violent to keep my men safe. Most RA guys are hippy Climbers or nental Freefallers. I'm both.
      I'm also the former Soldier who cares for his men.
      I'm sure if you were to work with me or anyone I taught you would love life better.
