Happy to see DOTN getting some love! When I first got BO4 I wasn't super into the map but once I learned all the part spawns and WW quest and whatnot it grew on me very quickly and now I think it's my favorite map in BO4. I love the atmosphere--if we're speaking purely in terms of atmosphere I'd say DOTN is a top 5 map. The map feels like it was made for Halloween--a luxurious haunted mansion, a spooky forest, a graveyard, a steampunk-ish mad scientist lab, werewolves, vampires, a feeling of mystery and I love that sort of aesthetic! I also really appreciate when wonder weapon miniquests are relatively simple and replayable.
In the lights puzzle you need to move left, right, center and one more time left and its done, I don't understand how many youtubers go with the method of center, right and left and then, repeat until eventually it's done? That doesn't sound right. Anyway, is nice to see some bo4 zombies love.
Bo4. A misunderstood game ahead of its time. I believe the developers of Treyarch were really passionate but their passion was crushed by the act of Activisions unfortunate greed. It's really an unfortunate case cause bo4 is literally the game that could be stated as the" could have been". I personally thought that IX, Classified, Ancient, and Tag were one of the best maps we've had. It's just so sad...
If they kept the same perk system instead of this shit, the game would actually be pretty damn good. The HUD is also pretty awful, they should've fixed that with updates.
They were very passionate about the game but were rushed and fucked by activision in half of the development, what the game lacked was the final polish for release plus the later DLC season, the maps itself, all the chaos ones + classfied and blood you can feel how much effort and passion they put it into these maps, for Alpha and Tag it was clear they had to assemble and deliver them in record time.
I don’t care if you all consider this a stretch, but I consider this map an underrated masterpiece. I love everything about this map! I love the enemy types, the layout, flow, Easter egg, setup, atmosphere, everything! Everything works and meshes so well together in this map. I can’t believe how dirty everyone does this modern underrated classic zombies map. Even the Nosferatus work for me after they’ve been nerfed and they provide a great challenge and uniqueness to the gameplay that I love, as well as the werewolves! I love the big fluffy bois lol. The stake knife is also a ton of fun, and this map has so much detail and so many awesome side quests that I can’t help but just love it.
I’m glad to find out that I’m not the only one in existence to find bo4 zombies an enjoyable time. When every youtuber was talking about how bad the game was, I kinda felt bad for being able to enjoy it.
I loved this map as soon as it was released as the first dlc purely from the theme of the map being a classical mansion aswell as the new bosses like the vampires which added an extra challenge
This map has the best atmosphere for any zombies map. Combining zombies with werewolves and vampires was such a cool idea and I’m glad someone else shares my love for this overlooked gem.
I love DOTN. I would love to do the EE but it's super overwhelming for me. And thats excluding the boss fight so yeah. I agree the BO4 perk system wasn't great but I also agree with that it wasn't terrible. I'm in between. I love how you didn't have to waste slots with essential perks (which especially was an issue in games without means to get new slots). But I get people didn't like the new system.
Having Jugg and Speedcola just cuz you bought the perks was a good way to make people buy all perks. People before sometimes only bought 2 perks, this two. Now you NEED to have all your perks to have them. Also, you can play 6~8 perks that have big impact, or use the others to do specified things that you want. Sometimes the "stronger one" is not what you need.
9. I too NEVERRRRRR understood the hate this map got. I ABSOLUTELY love this map! I remember it had a horrible release, but it shouldn't have soured everyone's perception of this map as bad as it did!
Finally some DOTN lovers. I get home from school and probs play this map everyday single day. I know it’s complicated, the puzzle solving and part collecting is honestly sometimes draining, but once you get them down it becomes a super fun map. Try it if you haven’t.
I watched a bunch of your bo4 videos months ago and they planted a seed of desire in my brain and this week it has blossomed. I'm currently about to beat this maps Easter egg and I love it so far
The other Wonder Weapon is The Salvage Impaler. No Thumbs Crew and Glitching Queen did this entire ee by round 5. Dead Of The Night is by far in my top 7 maps of all time.
I avoided this map for the longest time because all I saw everywhere was people shitting on it for being too complicated. But after finally playing it I learned it after only a few games it really isn't that bad. I feel like its the shadows of evil of BO4, hated on at release for being too complicated but once you learn it its really fun. Also the easter eggs have a similar structure as well where most of it is just normal set up stuff you would do anyway with some minor challenges to do on top of that. Also kind of like zetsubo's EE with how really the main thing about that easter egg is just finding the gears to enter the boss figjt, but you need to do basic set up to get the gears which I like. Instead of a bunch of random steps that can be kind of annoying like I feel Voyage of despair, IX and Blood of the dead do.
Map 8/10 . People hating bo4 zombies because bugs at launch and perk system ( the last one i agree but Come on bo4 introduced new perks and people were complaining about no new perks after widows wine bo3 remember?) that had much content and after that we later have Vanguard which is the complete opposite of bo4 and the worst COD in zombies history. Cold War zombies is great, it has wonderweapons and new features in launch comparing to Vanguard who has NO main EE, NO Wonderweapons ( not even a Raygun) , NO side ees which is so boooring, NO Pap camo when the game was out and also NO round based map. So Bo4 and Cold war deserve exactly 7/10 and no more. Vanguard is just the worst. Vanguard story is excellent and thats great but the gameplay isnt good and i hope the future DLCs will change my mind cuz the last update doesnt hype me tbh. Always wait till the end to give the complete point of view :)
i actually quite like the bo4 perk system, only things i would change are a fixed 5th perk slot for jug and the perk balance. still maybe 10/18 perks are great to at least useable
You should do an Easter egg guide on this. I know there's a lot, but you should do a full walk through where you talk about things you can grab while you're doing another step, and just shorter ways to do things.
One thing that really helps with doing he dead of the night eater egg speedruns is getting to the IX boss fight or beat the voyage Easter egg to get free doors. You can get pack open super early. All your parts the wonder weapon everything done by round 3. Also. I got the ee done for this map solo on round 10
I didn't have much fun with BO4, but the DOTN casting and setting was awesome. Not much beats slaying the countless ghouls and goblins of the map as Charles Dance
The perk system was good. I do miss too the fact of specific perks being in one predilect spot, but with the system BO4 has it let you have more personalization, in case you dont even use some of the perks in the map and let you have different play styles on different maps
dead of the night one of my personal fav maps. once u learn the part spawns the ONLY annoying part of the egg is looking for scratch marks and possibly the vampires. top tier easter in terms of engaging steps imo. also the AA is a nuts wonder weapon. keep up the good work king 👑
Ancient evil and dead of the night are becoming my favorite maps of all time I will say these 2 maps took me the longest to learn but well worth it and easy to retain all the info at least for me
"Underrated" is generous. It's beautiful, has great characters, unique enemies and a great setting that hasn't been done before or since. It's also incredibly unfun to play.
ok the problem with thrashers is that 1. they eat other zombies which can be annoying early 2. they can take a lot of ammo and the problem is that they come really early so your guns are bad + they are very tank
Me and my friend have done this so much our favorite map, when we first did it he was adding random tally’s to the tally step so it took us like an hour and half on that step alone 😂
Dead of the Night is a great map, but I think the scavenger hunt for all of the items really put people off on it. I love the map, but memorizing some of the spots for items just a pain, as well as memorizing the different paintings and artifacts for the PaP process too. I also find the Allister's Folly steps to be a pain where you have to check obscure spots for the symbols. Also nosferatus are the worst boss enemies in zombies. Otherwise, I think that the WW is a great upgrade of the ray gun, the atmosphere and theme are really fun, and the layout is great. It is fun when you remember the locations of the items, but a bit tedious to learn. Definitely the underrated gem of Black Ops 4.
I absolutely loved this map. The steps and Easter eggs are a combination of both infuriating and annoying but also very rewarding once they are done, and I still can't get the Savage Impaler or figure out it's upgraded steps. But I do have a theory: The Alistors ahnilator requires you you to shoot a certain orange light in the graveyard to get prima terms from a bat. Well there are similar light's in the garden and outside where pack - a - punch is hanging on the trees. Could shooting some or one of those lights have something to do with the crossbow as well? I never got the crossbow, so I couldn't test it out
Nah I agree wholeheartedly with you about this map! I speedran this map a couple of times and it is def in my top5 maps of all time. I love this map. Love the vid man keep it up!
Kind of random but what i feel like is a underrated bo4 gun packed is the trench gun that turns into a grenade launcher tho i am horrible at names it’s still pretty good and fun to use with phd on and is great for training and mini bosses since it deals with things like the slasher gladiators on ix with 2 shots and like 4 or something for the axe guys (at least earlier on) not saying it’s the best since phd is a near necessity but if you’re bored and wanna try another gun it’s a solid option
Only reason I hate thrashers is because they feel so buggy, idk how many times ive been the the boss fight for ZNS or just playing around the map and I randomly just get one shot by a thrasher behind me through my shield
I love Dead of the Night. Beautiful setting, interesting weapons, and badness characters. I might be biased though, because this is the first EE I ever beat. Beat it on my first actual try too. It was a decent challenge, but not bad enough that it is nerve wracking
The map layout is basically just corridors, no room for trains. Only way too play the map right is with the Alistair's Annihilator which is a pain to get in an average zombies game. P.S. Thrashers are the easiest zombie miniboss
If y'all don't know, on the step you have to have the zombie dig for the part, you need to shoot the zombie not the pile and the zombie will dig first time every time
DOTN is a top 5 zombies for me. The atmosphere of the map is awesome and the wonder weapon is one of my favorites to use. Also I like how it takes a while to get the parts cause it makes going for high rounds a lot more fun since you aren’t set up before round 10 just sitting in the same corner for 90 rounds
@GHosT in my opinion they took bo4 wayyyy too negative and you need to consider that it came out when the fortnite was at the peak.I play zombies from bo1 ... and that game is so fun (for me at least) , the vibes , the atmosphere the wonder weapons.I undertand that they didnt like the perk system ....but i found that nice , not perfect but not but either. You buy 4 perks and in reality you have 6(4 + the bonus of the 4th slot + speed cola that is coming with every bonus) + juggernog by default ...In my opinion the community were too dramatic.
I actually love the characters. They're extraordinarily campy in all the right ways, their backstories are very reminiscent of the Shadows of Evil cast in theme, Helena Bonham Carter voices Madame Mirela / Christina so definitely not random people, and they have so many unique lines that you really wouldn't get to hear anywhere else in the franchise. I know it's incredibly subjective especially because I also used to be annoyed by the voices themselves, but it's one of those things where I played it enough and grew to love it.
8: I think the biggest issue with this map is that it is not a player friendly map, the best maps can balance complexity whilst also being manageable for a new player, that’s why I personally would say IX is a top 10 map, it’s easy to setup, but can be complex and fun, same with der eisendrache, however DOTN is a beautiful map, with a complex but somehow fun EE . I view this map the same as Zetsobou no shima, painful process but beneath that lies a beautiful map. Also boss zombies are just trash, but that’s just a bo4 issue
Same goes for origins though right? Most people agree that it’s not beginner friendly and isn’t great for casual zombies, but it’s widely regarded as one of the best maps
idk if u watch tv or movies much chrrism, but the cast is tywin lannister from game of thrones, bellatrix lestrange from harry potter, boss nass from star wars, and the general from monsters vs aliens
I bought bo4 recently and had never heard of this map before so I was just ignoring it thinking it was bad, but when I played it for the first time I completely fell in love with it, I really don't understand why such a fun map is so disliked.
I love Dead of the Night, my favorite black ops 4 map hands down. And I kinda haven't played Ancient Evil all that much and hated it what little I did play 😅
If you got rid of the vampire spam I would probably enjoy it a lot more. Like a lot of the BO4 maps the special zombies weren’t hard to the point of offering a decent challenge, they were just extremely annoying
I loved this map but the amount of speecial zombies like the vampires and werewolves that spawn later in the rounds just is extremely unfun. Me and my friends would get to like round 30 and it just became unplayable with how many of the vampires and werewolves spawning in each round...
Honestly for me I just hate the vampires. Not even the red ones the red ones are fine, but the abundance of the smaller ones just constantly anti healing you is so annoying. Now granted they wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for the fact that DOTN is the only map where you can buy ammo for any gun meaning you're almost forced to play it if you wanna go for dark matter
Also the spawn training room is the best also can do a start room challenge because you can get a pack of punch pistol and the best lmg in bo4 multi-player and zombies the hades
"It truly feels like they were throwing shit at the wall for this map" It's been feeling like that for all the games since Black Ops 4. Ever since Jason was taken off Zombies, Treyarch has had absolutely no vision or knowledge of how the story of this game is supposed to go. THAT is why the vast majority of people dislike this map and every other map of this game.
I didn't like dead of the night all that much because I wanted like actual haunted castle stuff not a mansion overrun with zombies with werewolves, vampires, ghosts and ghouls, I wanted an actual haunted castle with secret passages, have it be like a thing where the chaos crew or the maps characters in different clothes show up to steal the sentinel artifact from a haunted castle for Alistair only to have the cult realize and wait for the crew to show up and try to do a trade only to have Godfrey murder them all and go with the cult, the artifact and Alistair to ancient evil, let's just say the description for the map before it came out was drastically different from what I thought the final product was going to be, though it is one of the strongest of the BO4 zombies maps, I give it a nice 8/10
This is a Map I did a complete 180° on. I did not like it. The amount of things to find, the amount of things to build, the way you unlocked PaP, the complexity of it all ect ect. But then I watched Fast Guides Glitch and his tutorials, and I quickly fell in love with the Map.

@ GHosT_84J nah. its justified. changed way too much that never needed changed and ruined the entire identidty of zombies
0:30 unless you're KrazyRabbit, lmfao
I have been playing zombies since bo1 kino, and I absolutely love the bo4 perk system
I love this video! You should definitely make more BO4 videos, especially on this map.
idk if u watch tv or movies much chrrism, but the cast is tywin lannister from game of thrones, bellatrix lestrange from harry potter, boss nass from star wars, and the general from monsters vs aliens
I bought bo4 recently and had never heard of this map before so I was just ignoring it thinking it was bad, but when I played it for the first time I completely fell in love with it, I really don't understand why such a fun map is so disliked.
I may have some hottakes myself, but this I do agree on. Dead of the Night is heavily underrated
I got into the boss fight round 9 but as I went in it switched over to round 10. Extreme micro managing
Dead of the night is slept on so hard. Love this map so much.
And i was the 666th like, lets go
3:27 How could you insult Charles Dance like that 💀😰
Video came at the perfect time. I've been grinding on this map for a few days.
I love Dead of the Night, my favorite black ops 4 map hands down. And I kinda haven't played Ancient Evil all that much and hated it what little I did play 😅
Never really gave this map a chance but now maybe I will, looks pretty fun
Video is 2 years old and here is am enjoying the fck out of it while I'm playing the map myself
You should do the iw ees I think it would be really fun to watch.
its my favorite map, it has its problems but the aesthetics is what i love the most
If you got rid of the vampire spam I would probably enjoy it a lot more. Like a lot of the BO4 maps the special zombies weren’t hard to the point of offering a decent challenge, they were just extremely annoying
Very underrated, I wish they brought the Soldier and the Fortune Teller back!
Love the gameplay videos!
I love dead of the nighttt, also the perk system isn't as bad that people said when it came out
I loved this map but the amount of speecial zombies like the vampires and werewolves that spawn later in the rounds just is extremely unfun. Me and my friends would get to like round 30 and it just became unplayable with how many of the vampires and werewolves spawning in each round...

EXTREMELY BASED!!!! Brew is the best perk and red drink is bad
“i don’t know why people hate this map.”
“let me grab this”
“let me grab this”
“let me grab this”
“gotta remember this for PaP”
“gotta remember this”
I really like DOTN, but there’s just way too many vampires, makes training and high rounds obnoxious
And finally some choas love!! 4 got hate but it was so well developed compared to today's games
Easily my favourite map, this was the only map I ever tried speedrunning too
Finally, someone else who loves this map.
I used to hate dead of the night, but you convinced me to give it another chance
Yo it brings a tear to my eye to finally hear a big cod player call dead of the night a top 10 map
thrashers were just such a pain to deal with and they trap yu really easy
Also the spawn training room is the best also can do a start room challenge because you can get a pack of punch pistol and the best lmg in bo4 multi-player and zombies the hades
"It truly feels like they were throwing shit at the wall for this map" It's been feeling like that for all the games since Black Ops 4. Ever since Jason was taken off Zombies, Treyarch has had absolutely no vision or knowledge of how the story of this game is supposed to go. THAT is why the vast majority of people dislike this map and every other map of this game.
most underrated youtuber plays most underrated map
Idk how I remember every part from every map. Too much stuff to collect
I hit the box to get the wonder weapon. I always get it rather quickly. Temporal gift on fire sale is almost certain.
Boss fight feels like a dungeon boss in destiny lol
