I was a kid back in the late 90s when this game came out and i can tell you that it was pretty popular in my town. Multiples of my friends each had this game including me. None of them beat it but i finally did but it took me forever. I will agree that the apartment in the beginning was SUPER dark on my CRT monitor. All i remember seeing was the red light caused by the window at the bottom right of the screen. The apartment part took me months to figure out.
I had this on PC back in the day. Last I tried playing, my drivers wouldn't work and the whole game was broken with its graphics. Now that I know its a Resident Evil bootleg, it's interesting. Lol
Played this last year up to the point of that jumping part in the third level, that's where I quit the game. Seeing now that there are only four levels I apparently didn't miss much anyway.
Hey dude, came from your fallout playthrough and think you're awesome! I'm having an issue with the audio, where the telephone voice line for L is quoted. It appears in only one ear. In your description it says new audio stuff, your mic sounds crisp as fuck, but thought I'd let you know. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thank you! I was worried the mic wouldn't sound too good so it's good to hear positive feedback about it. As for the voice lines being in one ear, I actually noted that in the text blurb at the start of the Audio section. Those clips were pulled directly from the game files and unedited. They came up as mono audio when pulled into audacity and I wanted to keep those clips in the original form for listening purpose. They play normally through both speakers when loaded in the game proper but when pulled into my editor the clips played in one ear. It actually happened with a number of sound clips so when using the raw audio from the game I made sure that they'd only be used for the specific listening sections before I started assembling that portion of the video. The game audio as a whole was very very strange, a lot of clips were at different frequencies too so you had this mix of clear sounding audio and compressed audio at some points. You can see that when listening to Js audio. Specifically the clip where he goes "this is the thanks I get?" that was also pulled from the game directly.

First of all, 25:56 You use Medibang Paint? Sweet! I've been using Medibang Paint to work on my manga works😃 Second, I want to love this game for its style ad concept with such game play. I love Resident Evil game (mostly 2) and Silent Hill on PS1. But sadly, hate how this game is controlled and the aiming is so clunky AF. And... certain graphic design usage and color schemes for cutscenes just ruined it for me. Played it on a PAL PS1 long ago (before donating it to the orphanage after getting a PS2) and when I thought PC version is better, glad I'm watching this video before deciding to waste my time wrecking my brain on how to install or play... Resident Evil 2 has auto aiming which makes it much better to play. But for this game, you have to manually and slowly aim at the enemies... So I gave up on this game and rather play RE and SH instead.
I've been using Medibang for a good while now, for my drawings it works really well! Honestly wouldn't trade it for anything else right now. I've been curious about the PS1 version possibly playing a little better with an actual controller. I was actually having a discussion with a friend about this game after reviewing another Wii game recently, the concept for a Resident Evil style game is definitely there but it's just not executed well at all with Men In Black. The pieces are there, they're just not put together and there's a lot wrong with how it does certain aspects. RE's control scheme definitely doesn't translate to a keyboard well at all, some games are just better with a proper controller. I didn't mind the cutscenes that much since I'm a sucker for some interesting art styles, but I can see the color schemes being hard on the eyes. They're very brightly colored and I can bet looking at those for a while doesn't look great. Looking back I honestly think I was a little too harsh on it, but it's not something I would want to come back to. If the PS1 versions controls are just as clunky, I definitely wouldn't be missing much by skipping it. And honestly? Good call skipping the PC version, getting that thing functioning properly was honestly more fun than playing the actual game.
Surprised there's no conspiracy about the MIB making this franchise as a smoke screen. Seems like a natural addition to it.
