- 08.25.2024 | 2:13 AM | IRVINE - A DUI suspect was under arrest after plowing into a CHP patrol vehicle at the scene of a fatal crash, early Sunday morning.
The crash occurred on the northbound I-5 Freeway just south of Culver Drive around 2:13 AM when the driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz sedan careened into a closure related to an earlier fatal motorcycle crash.
The Mercedes struck a CHP patrol vehicle and a cone, but missed nearby officers and CalTrans workers.
Medics evaluated the driver who refused treatment before being administered a series of field sobriety tests.
Ultimately the driver was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI.
Possible drug paraphernalia along with a child's car seat and backpack were discovered inside the Mercedes.

I thought you were never supposed to submit to a sobriety test, you have an automatic loss of your driver's license for a year but you don't have a DUI on your background which will sky rocket your insurance rates and put a felony on your background two more strikes that can be gotten oh so easily these days and you're in prison. I thought you were supposed to say nothing do nothing and wait for your lawyer to show up.

Regardless if you submit to a Field Sobriety Test, they will get a warrant for your blood, they will withdraw said blood, and you will still be charged with DUI AND you lose your license for 1-3 years.
