I can't imagine that it's been over a month since 2926 has turned 80 years old. glad this ATSF 4-8-4 has been around for 80 years and still kicking under it's power, along while the 3751 has been around for almost a century which is 97 years old. I'm late on saying this but happy belated birthday to the 2926. :)
I can’t believe what I’ve witnessed. This engine actually took cake, ate it, and ignited her fire with it. I’m shaking with excitement and amazement right now. Oh, and happy birthday 2926. I’m so happy you’ve been saved from scrap.
I was also rather skeptical at first. I thought cake couldn't be used as fuel for a fire but they proved me wrong. I started smiling as soon as #2926 ate the cake.
A year successful for you guys, 2926 operating on the mainline three times in 1 year. It's always an honor to see this locomotive run even if it's short runs and I am always happy to see my all time favorite steam locomotive run under her own power. Thank you guys for what y'all were able to do this year with the locomotive, Happy Birthday Santa Fe 2926. It is now December 1st at the time this video was uploaded, Happy Holidays to you guys. 🎅🎄
Happy late birthday #2926. She sure enjoyed the cake. Who knew cake could be used as fuel for steam locomotives? I had no idea it would actually work with some fresh cake.
Donate to New Mexico Heritage Rail to help prepare the 2926 for mainline excursions. She needs a full PTC system and a working turntable over at the Old Santa Fe shops in Albuquerque.
So awesome of it running at night & I’m hoping at some point or another she hopefully pulls an excursion soon the may be in the future as well. She might come meet up with her sister, 3751
Happy Birthday, 2926! What a beautiful engine and a masterful restoration! I hope more AT&SF big steam locomotives are restored!! I certainly hope that one of the magnificent 2-10-4s is next!!
We need to raise the money to purchase that roundhouse, and get her a home, and possibly even house some of the other ATSF steam power running 3751, the hudson, and the pacific
I agree with everything except for the extra steam locomotive part. Let’s enjoy 2926 running mainline excursions in the future, before considering any other steam locomotive restoration for NMHR.
Sorry, 3751 is san bernardino's engine. My grandfather was part of the team that got it off the siding it was on because he worked for the city at the time.
How much freedom do you guys have to move around the Albuquerque yard? Are you able to move around that yard freely without track clearances? Is there a lead track to get to The Engine House, maybe or at least it's table?
Do you guys have advice for restoring locomotives. I’ve always wanted to restore a locomotive myself, and I’m only a teen. Any advice to give on like starting your own society and people to do this type of stuff?
I'm no volunteer or member of 2926 nor am I really an expert on that kind of stuff, but one thing I will say is it takes time and dedication to do it, you have to have a group and not just yourself, you'd have to constantly deal with the FRA and you'd have to have funds coming in. I've never restored a steam locomotive not once in my life but with my experience as an automotive mechanic it takes a lot of time and effort and patience to get the job done and do it the right way just to get the car fixed and hopefully the customer feels satisfied after that. It just takes doing the best work you can and with a dedicated group and people who know their ways around the machine in and out and again having funds and supporters. But if your interested you can go join the 2926 group and become a member or volunteer.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I grow weary of watching one identical video after another. Back and forth - back and forth, but I SERIOUSLY get it. Break her in easy right? Now, I, like a ga-zillion of others need to know when her first mainline Freight pull will happen, not to mention any passenger operations.
I know you guys are weary but there's not much I can do. I'm trying my best to make the edits different and things. Sadly we don't know when our first freight pull or passenger excursion is. Because that's not how it works we arnt a first class railroad we don't own cars or track. We have to build a relationship with the powers that be and that takes time..
@@kindacircledon't listen to him, you do a great job on these videos and you're a great narrator and a great editor. Love your footage and your vids keep doing what you're doing man. 👊

New Mexico heritage rail… I like the idea of 2926s birthday but the naming of the video of 2926 being lighting up with cake sound…. Ridiculous…… and it isn’t proper…….🤦♂️😕
Nothing we do has been proper for 50 years the modern steam locomotives purpose it too entertain and teach history. We do steam railroading because we enjoy it not because we want money or be that rivet counter. So having fun in this industry is a huge part of it. Yes the cake is ridiculous and unproper. But that's because the whole dang industry is ridiculous and proper simultaneously that's what makes it great. Hate to be rude but, If your not having fun in this industry you aint steam railroading. The point is to have fun that's the only reason steam has survived is because it makes people feel something. Not to mention you missed the sedimental value of the cake. The cake meant something the cake meant "despite all of our trials and obstacles....we and 2926 are still here. We survived another year..."

They took a piece out of @Hyce book when he cooked pizza in the D&RGW No. 491 and gave a slice to her in the firebox lol.
@@TheSteamGuy5125 Didn’t the 491 also steal a cheese toast for herself when @Hyce was grilling it on the coal shovel?

What a cool job . Just saw Big Boy go on his tour . Can’t wait to see 2926! Well done! Bought my beanie last week . Thanks
This is magnificent!

Happy birthday 2926! Many exciting things to come in the future for you folks.
It was a fantastic event to attend, Happy Birthday 2926!!
I hope 2926 will be living in the area with the turn table by the time that amazing Steam Engine turns 100 years old
Happy Birthday 2926! I hope the area with the Turntable becomes your new home soon.
Happy Birthday 2926!
beautiful machine! love it so much, hope the funds for this one comes thru
Happy birthday 2926
no way the man himself ate the cake and actually USED IT AS FUEL

That was awesome to see the cake lighting. Can't wait to take a trip there and see it one day.
Now I wish to see my local steam engine 3751 meets and double heads 2926.
Fantastic for feeding it the cake and i matter what Passenger train she's gonna carry.
Happy birthday old 2926

What a MAGNIFICENT MACHINE!!!!

When you opened the fuel valve, why did it appear that the fire was pulsating?
Because the atomizer was blowing it out. Oil burners can be finicky.

New Mexico Heritage Rail will remain focused on 2926. A 2-10-4 isn’t really suitable for excursion service.
