Dear Dr. Gail, thank you so much for this video. The way you have done the presentation, your explanation, your calming voice and just about everything. I am starting a scoping review and your video is really well thought through. This 'young' researcher appreciate you.

Thank you so much for this. I am currently half way through a scoping review for my Master's independent study module. Not a full scoping review, obviously as they would be too much, but following the protocol loosely. This was a very useful exemplar of how to define and limit the scope of my study.
One of the best comprehensive presentations...very detailed but simple, and quite understandable in application steps rather than just regurgitate textbooks on subject.thank you

Hello, I am so happy I found this video. I am doing Masters by research, and I am really struggling to find literature in my field of study. I am new to research too. Please how do I access your research you mentioned in this video.
Hi Gail. Thank you so much for this. I am considering a scoping review as part of my PhD application preparation. I have also watched the JBI videos, who state quite emphatically that thematic analysis (which I have used before) should NOT be completed in a scoping review. Do you have any pointers to help me understand the analysis part of the process and how content analysis is different? Also any ideas for presenting the data? Many thanks!
Hi! thanks for the informative video! it's great especially for my first time ever starting to do some research. the problem is I don't have an academic email yet to have an account on research gate.. so is there any other way to get the workbook? Thanks in advance
Thank you for this video! Really good summary. I have been asked to do a scoping review for my master. Although I only have 1 1/2 months left. … would you have a source for the steps of the scoping review ? Thank you
Hi Gail. Do I have to publish a Scoping Review protocol for my paper a priori? And do you have any suggestions for journals that I can puublish my protocol, as well as my finished paper.
Hi Philip. All research is moving towards publication of protocols as it improves transparency and rigor, however, I can be time consuming and might delay the review completion. Protocol publication is not mandatory. BMC systematic reviews and BMJ Open publish protocols. The journal you chose will depend on the topic and subsequent audience- what is your topic?
@@phillipkwendesa7359 Very interesting Phillip! Once you have your study well underway, have a look at prospective journals, healthcare and educational ones, to see where it would fit. It really depends on who the research would most benefit, which readers, health professionals etc.
Hello, how are you I need your help as I have an article and it was his method A scoping review I need to make a checklist for this article. The problem is that I know too little and I am trying to understand more in A scoping review Can you help, thank you
Hi, my supervisor asked me to develop a research proposal but after conducting the scoping study on my topic. So my question is, is scoping study and scoping review the same thing? Please.
If it is for a research proposal but not for journal or conference, you might not need to finish a complete scoping review because that might take months or even longer. But the steps in this video will also be helpful I think.
Hi Amed. Sorry I haven't replied sooner. In a scoping review, it is best to use the proposal as an active document and make iterations to it as you become more aware and have more insight into the topic. I'm not really familiar with another type of review or 'scoping study'. You might be safer asking your supervisor to elaborate. Thanks, Gail
This video is so useful! Thanks a lot. Just one question I have, scoping reviews include grey literature. What exactly qualifies as appropriate grey literature for a scoping review? Thanks!
Hi Gail. I love your presentation, it helped me to get started. Out of interest, did you search for the literature manually, or you used a literature review software/tool because doing it manually is a lot of work.
Hi Philip. We completed searches on 5 databases, however, around half of the articles were accessed by manually reviewed reference lists. All data extraction was manual also. Good luck.
