I remember years ago when I was in high school I was in a TV/Media class and heard that distinctive "thumping". It was close and getting closer and I instantly knew what it was and ran out in the middle of class with my camera and filmed it coming in to land in the football field behind the school. I believe it was the Army doing a recruitment thing at the school. The principle and a handful of other staff only knew of it and he was surprised to see me there to film it. The principle asked "How'd you know what it was?" - "I know that sound from anywhere." Is what I told him. The pilot who flew it in had the biggest smile on his face when he heard me say that.
Love this Helicopter, the 2nd most decorated Huey helicopter pilot in Vietnam was a Tralee Kerry born man John Sullivan, they are currently restoring a Huey in Listowel Co. Kerry in his honour. Looking forward to seeing that being restored.
Thank you for this high quality Helicopter sounds. I looked out the terrace and I saw construction workers working on top of my neighbor's house next door. I pulled out both my Soundboks and played this directly. And they were all looking up in the sky, trying to find the helicopter. It sounded so clear and realistic, hey if I closed my eyes, it sounded like it landed in front on the lawn. Hehehe I was very amused! Thanks again.
The best sounding helicopter ever, I would give anything to ride in one and try to get a sense of what our troops felt like riding in one back during the Vietnam Conflict.
The biggest show of the year, Thunder over Michigan 2021, I went to go ride on this and that day it was "out of service". What happened, collective stick break in two?
@@DorvellTStewart there’s a group in Alabama that restores and flys Hueys. Friends of Army Aviation. They offer rides at locations that host fund raisers. It cost my wife $50 bucks for a 15 minute ride for me. I had tears in my eyes when I got out, I was that happy!
The most iconic helicopter sound ever
