    We have been using these for 4 years now. I drilled a small hole through the levelers and the chocks. Then ran a 2ft piece of paracord through holes. Then when I move the trailer, my wife can pull the chocks and then the levelers out without getting her hand too close to the tires. The paracord has a knot on each end so that it can be pulled from either side.

    We've had ours for 3 years as well and love them. They work great. Somewhere along the way we've also acquired a set of rubber grip mats that help with the slipping.

    Mortons on the Move - thanks for the video. I love the Andersen levelers, too. And bought 6" wide sandpaper roll with sticky backing (any hardware store) which I just "glued" around the whole leveler for enough friction that it never slides. Works great!

    Excellent video Tom. Love the truck use idea as well.
    For the slipping. You can get rubber grip mats (normally in the trailer section) of retailers and stick it on. Just an idea!

    We have been using these levelers on our 5th wheel for 4 years. I added a little item to mine. In the large curved part I drilled a parachute cord size hole in the center of the largest recess. I put a 2 ft length of cord through the hole with a knot on each end. This allows the cord to be pulled out on either side. Then I drilled a similar hole in both sides of the chock part. The cord is used when we are removing the levelers. The person pulling out the chock can pull the cord and not need to get your fingers close to the tire. then when I revers the cords on the leveler part are pulled out as well. I haven't tried this yet, but, it might be possible to place a stake and tie the chocks to the stake with a bungee cord so that pressure is removed, the chock will pull out and then reverse and a cord could pull out the leveler part. This would be useful on a dual axle trailer by a single person.

    we love these things. We were newbies when we bought them and they really helped level our travel trailer.

    Question, if you are on an uneven surface, if you put the ramps under your tires and drive up on them, aren’t you still uneven? How do you use them to level side to side?

    I just got these & LOVE them. I was looking at installing an electric leveling system but these are so cheap & easy. In the dark even. Can't say enough. Wish they would make them 6" though.

    I've the Ground Conttol TT and the rear levelers are too close to the tire. No problem. I just roll forward onto them. Great product.

    have you driven all the way to the other side by mistake and would this lever go flying backside and hit your RV?

    Great item. Had to trim one to fit between tires but it works fine. Slipping? 3M has adhesive sandpaper-like item available in a roll. Works well to stop the slippage; cheaper than the Andersen rubber pads. Lifetime replacement warranty!

    I find these levellers very interesting but primarily RV alone. Im concerned you could easily over shoot the end of the leveler and the trailer would drop 4 inches. From inside the truck can you see the tires position on the leveler? Carrying the extra boards is a great idea.

    We have these and they do slide very easily on wet grass. Sandpaper would not help in this situation. We are going to try leveling blocks next.

    Very informative however, what do you do if you have dual tires, two tires side by side on each side of RV?
    Also, what do you do if the campsite is not level side to side as well? Thank you

      Resa & others: these are used only on one side of the trailer. For example levellers on passenger side, nothing on driver side. Dual axle - use two levellers on low side, one per axle, both on same side (eg. passenger side).

    I would be a lot more impressed and inclined to buy if they had actually showed rolling onto to two of these levelers at the same time. They skipped that part and my guess is that it isn't as easy as they make it look. Maybe the levels spin out. Maybe its difficult to make both of the levelers connect with the wheels at the the same time. Maybe not but since they don't show us, how would we know?

  • @joecox9958

    great video thanks. We just picked up a Winslow by Excel....does your DRV have hydraulic jacks?
    also side question do you level your DRV prior to pushing slides out?

    • @MortonsontheMove
      @MortonsontheMove 7 років тому +1

      Yes our RV has hydraulic jacks, but not a leveling system hence why we use these. We only ever push the slides out if we are not level on quick stops and at that we dont push them out all the way. Its always best to be as level as possible before opening a slide otherwise its a lot of extra stress on the system.

    these wont work with a 33" tire on my 4runner? not sure why height matters,, seems like width would matter more,, he specifies its meant for a 31" tire.. anybody using this on overloading vehicles with tires larger than 31"

    • @MastaSquidge
      @MastaSquidge 2 роки тому

      Tire radius increases to the point where the tire will only contact the front/rear edges and then have to deform down into the "cup".

    What if I need more than 4 inches lift

    • @denniskeith8725
      @denniskeith8725 5 років тому +1

      That was addressed in the video. He carries two boards to place under the levelers. This provides up to 3 inches of lift for one side, which, combined with the 4 inches of the levelers, gives you 7 inches of lift.

    • @MikeC19100
      @MikeC19100 5 років тому

      You can use pressure treated decking material, AKA 5/4 x 6" boards. Two lengths will give you 2.5" of added height. If you routinely need more height you can add a length of 2x8 board which is actually 1.5" x 7.5" x whatever length you need for your application. Overall that would give you up to 8 inches of height.

    Recently bought a pair like this but from a company called Beech Lane. They seem to more robust than the Andersen version and less expensive to boot. Plus after learning what the owner of Andersen Hitches did earlier this year, defacing a national monument, I will never buy anything from them again.
