Get yourself an air powered die grinder and some carbide burrs for getting those bearings out Chris and an air chisel with a blunted chisel is great for rattling stuff out, works great if you have seized brake nipples too, just tickle around the caliper where the nipple is fitted and if you have a spare nipple, rattle down on the top of the old nipple, you'll soon shift it.

Chris when you bought them parts at JCB and he give you that free tub of grease (should of got a refund and then re-bought them) then you should of bought the parts upto £100 then done that for the rest of the parts and you would have ended up with 5 tubs of boom grease........OWT FOR NOWT lol
A 9" disc on a 4½" grinder is dodgy at best because the max RPM on the 9" disc is a lot slower than the 4½" discs max RPM so your lucky it never exploded being over sped.
You need a welder generator for site work so you can run a bead of weld around that outer bearing race to shrink it and then it would just fall out.

Hey chris. Ive worked on a lot of volvo loaders so Just want to give you a tip. I saw you were blowing out the AC condenser with it still latched in its resting position. To make cleaning the rad and the condenser much easier, there is a latch on the right side of the machine. If you pull the latch down and pull on the condenser it will slide out into its service position and make it much easier to blow the condenser in reverse flow and give better access to the rad. Hope this helps.

The best way to remove them races is a spot of weld it puts a little bit of heat into it and then use a long pry bar they always come straight out done loads from fastracs to teltruk. Snap on sel a cheisel and you just go for it big time with lump hammer and the trunnions pop straight out. I've worked on JCB agriculture and construction equipment for past 8 years

Definitely worth getting small inverter stick welder, can be used to run round bearings then shrink and remove, weld bar or nut on broken bolts etc or repairs, MIG is good but bigger set up and tricky if windy, small inverter stick and pack off 3.2 rods for couple of hundred quid, works in all weather, just keep gloves dry.
Regarding knackers boots have a look at army surplus, past few years iv been using army surplus Altberg Defender boots, give them a wax now and again and they have lasted a working environment (industrial electrician) great as long as where you go don’t demand steel toes, however they are still a tough boot, very comfy too, same for overalls etc, iv given up buying new workwear after last time a decent pair of trousers was £100! For work.. knowing they get knackered quick thought not paying that.

Like other have said, bead of weld around the race and it shrinks the bearing. Or die grind it. If i have space i normally just weld a bolt from one side to the other, then weld the slide hammer to get it out. Another way to get the cap off if one does come off easy. Put a load of washers ontop of that flat slot you saw, bolt the cap back in. That will pull the hub up and force the bottom cap out. Finally the flat slot in the top of the axle is for steering angle sensor (if fitted) and yes all JCB king pin caps come un threaded for grease nipples 😂

And there was me thinking at the sight of the king pin only been 2 inch long and attached to the to the caps it was a brilliant design. Then behold a tapered bearing race inside a blind hole. My favoured method of getting a tapered bearing race out is to run a bead of weld inside the race and as it cools it shrinks the race making it not far off fall out. But in your absence of a welder Chris you should have reverted back to the tried and tested method of swearing for hour on end at it and i am afraid Chris i did not hear anywhere near enough swearing in the build up to the bottles
