'Check My Heart' is all optimism, boldly announced by Katrina Mitchell's intrepid vocal overlaps and Stephen McRobbie's more melancholic counter. The sound is 3D, vivid - The Pastels' love of garage punk, soul crossover and first-wave independent clatter converging all too briefly, winding down the window and racing off into the summertime.
Shot on 16mm film with minimum set-ups, Blair Young's 'Check My Heart' promo is the story of one early spring Saturday in Glasgow. Lives overlap, connect, coincide, the music is a constant; sometimes it's only playing in our heads.

It has now been 7 years since this album the most recent Pastels album came out. Based on typical Pastel rate I'm guessing another Pastels album might be due in the next couple of years. :)
I remember I was so excited when this first dropped, but then have come to realize it's been quite a while since it did, and I'm feeling rather sad now. Maybe Stephen will drop some clues from their Instagram account. Really feeling the need for some new Pastels right now, to get through the freak show shitstorm of the next several months.

The drums at the beginning sound like Supersonic by Oasis. A bit faster here though. The Pastels will be warming up for Liam Gallagher at Knebworth.
That makes no sense. It should be the other way around, with little Liam opening for the mighty Pastels. Oasis was a product created in and confined to the '90s. The Pastels are timeless and forever.
