- Now a rarity at MSP, the UPS Queen is a sight for sore eyes. If UPS brings us a 747 on a Friday, it almost certainly arrives in the morning before sunrise and departs later at night long after dark. This time, both movements took place in the morning hours. I took full advantage of this opportunity and captured the broad daylight departure. Note the short takeoff roll allowed by light loads.
Flight #: 5X5525

I always forget how amazing it is that we can make these big pieces of metal fly

Hey - Besides Flight Radar 24, how do you check when a 747 is arriving at MSP?
Follow the Minneapolis St. Paul Aviation Spotting group on Facebook. Occasionally someone will post about it there. Frequent checks of the MSP arrival and departure board on FR24 will reveal any that are coming that day. Keep in mind that UPS flights out of SDF that are listed as an MD11, A300, or even a 767 can swap to the 747 without notice.
