I am really excited. To me as a German, the Hofenstauffen kind of represent a peak of our culture and influence (before Canossa). Really excited for the update, also hope they give some love to Swabia as the stem duchy of the Hohenstaufen. ALso, their pre-update ideas were fucking insane!
Hey Golem! I really enjoyed this video and you showing off this amazing nation! Could you do a part two because it would be awesome to see you do more missions and advance the HRE reforms!
10:04 That right there is why I edited the mod's files and increased the stab hit for the event to -3 and duplicated the number of total rebels. It's laughable how easily Frankia deals with the only event that is supposed to either make or break the run for itself. The same goes for Andalusia.
And as Bohemia at game start, you can ally francia, claim the throne of lothringa, and abuse the emperor to get the PU. if you wait Hussite event, you even get the PU with a young Hussite ruler.
it's true that there is a large differential between the old mission tree and the modern mission trees. and the europa expanded/ante bellum missions do generally manage to mimic the modern mission trees. however, they're also very, very structured... you obviously can go off the rails and do whatever, but if/when you complete missions, they kinda equalize campaigns. basically i would guess that ten of ten lotharingian (and other countries, too) campaigns will flow in the same general direction. i'm not quite sure how i feel about that. is it empowering the country in question, or shoehorning them?
All mission trees are railroaded and inevitably push the player into the same outcome every single campaign. Branching missions are just a duct tape solution that cannot account for everything the player can do ingame. Mission trees as a system simply fail to do justice to the RNG and sandbox nature of the game.
@@parmelion9771 I'd have to disagree to some extent. If done very well they can lead to very different outcomes depending on what it is the player wants to do. The Teutons are a perfect example, and have, like, 3 or 4 (depending on how you count it) paths to go down, each playing wildly differently.
@@hirocheeto7795 You are completely wrong because the Teutons are actually the worst possible example that almost made PDX give up on branching mission paths, and they have stopped doing them in that extent and will never do such extensive branching paths again. LotN and Domination had overcomplicated content that made PDX tune it down a ton for King of Kings and Winds of Change, that's why you see almost no branching missions in these DLCs - PDX recognizes it as a bad system and a duct tape solution. Source? I have worked as a contracted content designer on King of Kings and was told this directly by the person who made the Teuton MT.
@@parmelion9771 yeah the fact that teutons have like 20 different government types is waaaaaaay extra. I haven't played them, and I'm not sure that I will. I do think normal branching missions can be neat, but even then the difference between one and the other is nominal. With Japan, you're still going to have done the same stuff... You just have slightly different bonuses

Well Paladins are busted jeez. Paradox wishes their DLC content was half as good as the modding community's! Though they've been doing some good stuff recently, will give them that. But this looks amazing, and I'd love to see both more Lotharingia and Ante Bellum Blood & Iron content now and after it's released. Great video as always too man :)
the mission requires 35 cores not provinces if that's what you meant, i think it's more beneficial to complete it asap and go for a reconquest instead of conquest -> reconquest
as Ante Bellum beginner i have a small question. Do i need the Xorme AI also if i want to play Ante Bellum? How much does the Xorme AI affect the Game or "Ante Bellum"? Thanks in advance :)
Are you excited for EU4 Ante Bellum 1.9 Blood and Iron dropping July 8th 2024?
Let me know if you'd like to see more early access videos!

I don’t know if two months from now is “Right around the corner”
Depends how you view it because it was announced over a year ago
Post Finem and Europa Expanded are also getting updates around the same time.

Part 2 when?
as Ante Bellum beginner i have a small question.
Do i need the Xorme AI also if i want to play Ante Bellum?
How much does the Xorme AI affect the Game or "Ante Bellum"?

Hi! Nope, you don't need any additional mods. Unfortunately, i can't answer the second question as I've never tried it
@@GolemEnt Thanks for the quick answer :)
xorme DOES have an ante bellum compatch if u want to play with it. AB ai is already better then vanilla, so xorme + AB is probably pure cancer
How did you get that different starting map? looks like France doesn't exist, nor does austria
Its mod called ante bellum
Real
What happened to part 2?
