कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 के प्रचार के दौरान दावा किया था कि अगर इंडिया गठबंधन की सरकार बनी तो अग्निपथ योजना को खत्म कर देंगे. इसके बाद चुनावी नतीजे आने के बाद यह भी मामला सामने आया कि एनडीए में बीजेपी के सहयोगी दलों ने भी अग्निवीर योजना (Agniveer Scheme) में बदलाव का मुद्दा उठाया है. दावा यहां तक किया जाने लगा कि सरकार ने अग्निपथ योजना में बदलाव की कवायद शुरू कर दी है और इसके तहत 60 प्रतिशत अग्निवीरों को स्थायी नौकरी के साथ ज्यादा सैलरी और 7 साल का कार्यकाल करने का दावा किया गया.
