I too had gone into depression after losing my wife to cancer in June 2023, my children consulted a psychologist, sold my business and left me in the jungle around birds with a camera in my hands, currently I have come out of depression and now I have fallen in love with wildlife photography and forests.
Derek, First my sincere condolences to you and your family. I can relate in some ways as I lost my wife to Alzheimer's disease just over 3 years ago. I picked up a camera to take wildlife photos as a means to cope. Nature, Time, and Patience are the 3 great healers. I wish you the very best and stay strong.
Hi Derek. Very sorry to hear about your wife's passing. Life sure can be cruel, but what I can say is keep making your videos. I always watch them regardless if you are talking rubbish or not 😜. Keeping busy is the key. Best of luck mate
So sorry to hear about your sad news. Being out and about with you your camera and possitve vibes will get you through the pain. Time is a healer no matter how long it takes. ❤
derek, i’m so so sorry. she’s beautiful. cannot even imagine the shock you must feel. it’s very impressive that you’re able to talk about this, but i hope it helps, even a little bit. when i’ve experienced loss in the past i’ve found myself hesitant to do anything that brings me comfort, like i should feel bad for even thinking of anything other than my grief, but you just have to sometimes. and it’s very good to do so. i’m glad you’re able to do this and my thoughts are with you and your family. 💙
Thank you for sharing, Derek. We are sincerely sorry for your loss. Shocked to hear of Deb's passing. Keep strong and let time and nature heal. Lovely to hear your kids are so supportive - two great parents!! Sending love and hope to catch you out there! Anne & Greg
I am so sorry to hear this and really feel for you, I have some idea what its like as I have a sister with stage 4 cancer and its been a crap road to travel. I cant imagine losing my Hubby. So glad you have your children and grandchildren there. Grandies really are a blessing. I'm sure being out in nature is a tonic and I look forward to your future videos. Take care of and be kind to yourself.

Ohh Derek i'm so sorry to hear 😪 Nature is truly very healing, in many ways it will help you get through and heal, but the reason for why it is very healing is not what you think. Truly the Hand of God is reflected in creation, nature itself feels very much like a personality whom you can interact with, thats because it is, because God made it for us.
Not sure how this popped up in my feed but sorry for your loss. Cannot begin to imagine such a loss but at least you got some beautiful photography to keep your mind a little occupied
Don’t know you from Adam Sir, but my heart goes out to you for your loss. What makes it tougher for you is the time of the year ,good luck and God bless you Sir.

So sorry to hear this, Derek. I can't imagine what you're going through, but I do know that getting away into nature to do some photography does clear your head. It certainly helps me de-stress. Love your channel and hope you find the strength to carry on with what you love.

Acts 16:31 KJV
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
Cancer fucking sucks.
