Thanks for your brief comment about breaking in reeds. All the gyrations that people go through can get ridiculous and are largely useless, as you said. And some of the stuff, especially sanding the back of the reed and soaking the butt, do nothing but harm
Actually, Tom, I demo that technique in the reed finishing video I just finished about fixing reeds for French embouchure playing...you can see it, but I don't think I actually pointed it out.
Hi, do you ever use your ATG system after you have used it once.. Let say, you ATG your reed, then play it for awhile, and then, at some point you realise, stuff is happening behind your nose, ande then sand it again? IF you know what i mean :) Thanks for alot of really great videos
That's not an answer to the question posed here. But I will say that Legere recommends the ATG system for making needed corrections on his reeds to fit them better to particular mouthpieces.

I've searched their website and haven't seen anything on that. Do you have a link for that? I'd appreciate it. Also, I haven't used cane reeds for over a month and have been using the Legere signature series for my saxophones. This is also the first time I heard about your system. I heard about the Reed Geek tool that everyone who uses it thinks it's the greatest but I don't know, I have my doubts.
@@jimmyb1133 ATG stands for Against The Grain, since you scrape the reed from tip to vamp. I know Reed Geek say they can adjust Legere reeds too, surely the ATG system can also. I personally can't stand Legeres, much prefer to play a well adjusted cane reed.

Which ATG technique are you using to work the "middle" of the reed? could you demo this technique?

Yes, after adjusting it, you might need to make smaller adjustments if you notice the reed changing
