I live in Ontario on 80 acres of bush and luckily a small river nearby. First thing I did when I moved here was buy a tractor. Not just to sit in and pick up some earth and snow. Nope, there's attachments that save my old back and old knees and gets hard jobs done in no time. My favourite store is Princess Auto. I've bought amazing tools and implements there at a great price. They are very forgiving on returns/replacements as well. I think the equivalent for our American neighbours is Harbor Freight Great video and all the best!.

The seat belt could prove to be hazardous. Seat belts are used when you have protection around you, like a car etc. When there is no protection, like a motorcycle, you would need to be separated from the unit in case of a roll or slide down a hill. If that digger slid down and tipped face first into that water, you would be trapped.

I 100% agree. That's what I tried to explain in a previous video about his seatbelt!
He needs to be able to jump away from the machine if there were to be a roll-over!

Use the Rock to build a Walking Switchback Style for Beautiful Mrs. Cindy to possibly walk down a Long Grade. The More Water on the Property the better in My Opinion. Bigger is Sometimes Better

Well done your confidence is growing each time I see you
Two things I fitted to mine recently one is a small handrail about 10 inches high and 12 inches wide bolted in front of the seat but behind the levers
It makes small movements easier as you can rest your forearms and get more control
The other is a thumb welded behind the bucket to make grabbing things like that rock very easy and great to hold logs up while you cut firewood
    Keep up the good work

Instead of the caster idea. My brain is saying to remake the outboard bucket link. And make it with a gooseneck idea. To save time towing and moving it around. Curl the bucket in set it on a ball jitch for the side by side a drive. Might have to worry about Jack knife.

I would've used those 3 big rocks like steps going down to water. Just an idea.

Isn't that a whole lot of fun diggin' holes Dave? Careful, it's addictive. Hydraulics brings a whole new meaning to Tonka Toy. The only difference between men and boys, is the prices of their toys. Oh, and wallets count too. The bigger that wallet, the bigger the toys. 😉. Generally speaking, anything that runs on hydraulics isn't a toy. Ask OSHA. But they sure are fun.
Ya, I'd say a seatbelt is probably a good investment. That, and/or paid up medical insurance. I mean the hillbilly ratchet strap works, and Red Green might have an opinion on that too. But you want something with holding power, like Gorilla Tape. 😅. I'd have probably gone to the local wrecking yard, but Amazon works too.
A throttle cable was one of the mods my buddy did to his two machines. But he mounted his under the seat to the plate that the seat attaches to, so he doesn't accidentally hit it with his knee, and the cable isn't in the way. I remember giving him the two throttle controls, and I think he was going to mount them on the dash as well, but opted to put them under the seat. One of the other modifications he's talked about, but hasn't happened yet, was replacing the control valves for one's on either side of the seat that would make it more relaxing to operate, and less stressful on the back. Truthfully speaking, I'd like something similar on my JD backhoe attachment, because leaning foreword all day at the controls can be a bit daunting. I've used equipment with the controls on either side the seat, and that's definitely the way to go. But.... same difference, I haven't got there yet. It's on the I'd like to do list, it just hasn't floated to the #1 position, yet. Lol. So when I'm out on the claims going to operate the backhoe all day, a little shot of JD in the morning coffee, before jumping on the JD, kinda helps.😉 Like I've said, mining is a hobby. There's also a nice little fishing lake a hop skip and jump away from where I have camp set up. Some days I'm out in camp it's hard to decide which addiction do I feed, the fishing addiction, or the gold fever. Haha! It could be worse, I could be addicted to golf. A nice walk in the countryside, screwed up by a little white ball.
So the rocks you're digging out of your future pond, possibly mosquito ranch, even though covered in mud, look a lot like a schist. Which can be a good thing. Schists can contain a Mesothermal gold deposit with in the schist. I would wash a few of them off to see if they have small iron pyrite cubes dispersed through out the rock. That fact that you've hit bedrock, if there is placer gold present it can't go any further down than bedrock. I'd be in there with my Hydro-Force nozzle cleaning that bedrock off, and running it through my highbanker. But that's me. The gravel that you're spreading on the driveway a few weeks back, the colour of it, that orangy-red, could be indicative of iron. Around here in the countryside where I am the miners have a saying, "the redder the better". Because gold is very closely associated with iron deposits, and the red colour comes from rust. That's another spot I'd be testing the daylights out of. Lol
Well, it's a Saturday morning here on the claims, and I'm waiting for some friends to show up. We're going metal detecting a 150 year old tailings pile that one buddy discovered a couple of years ago. Tailings piles are awesome places to find gold that might have skipped out of the sluice boxes of the old timers, and other artifacts. Plus there's a number of new logging roads in that area that have cut through some interesting geology that's worthy of a look. Might even check out a few culverts as well. We're having a prospecting weekend.
The gardens are looking nice guys, Cindy looks like she's having way too much fun. Hopefully the critters don't find all that work too tastey.
    Cheers. 👋🇨🇦

A counter weight might be a worth while idea. Another idea and expensive make it a rotator.

Amazing how much these machines save time and wear and tear on our physical bodies! We are so blessed not to have to do everything by hand as our ancestors did.
