Thank you for giving us sheltered kids a place to feel normal & realize how many of us there are! I had so much fun reading all those comments! 👏🏻 In all honesty, it’s been therapeutic for me to wear my Sheltered Kid shirt in public as a badge of honor, instead of it continuing to be an embarrassing secret that I try hide. So thank you!

The postpartum talk is killing me 😂 our first is 8 months old and I have already forgotten most of the stuff Trey and Katie are going through.
As the mom, especially first time mom, you’re going through all this mostly alone, for the first time so you kinda have to rely on your spouse in order to not completely lose your mind 😅 you can’t tell your girlfriends who haven’t had kids yet bc you’ll scare them lol
Edit: I’m with Katie. Moms are on 24/7. You never get a break from the second they are born you carry the mental load of their wellbeing. She doesn’t have to scrape out the oatmeal. Especially in those early weeks. I didn’t feel anywhere close to “normal” for 12 weeks.

Regarding the oatmeal crusted bowls, short of cleaning them immediately (in which case it will come right off) Trey, have you tried putting them to soak first *then* attempting to clean them? It’ll save your forearms unless you want to work ‘em out some more 😁

I was cracking up at y'all talking about your wives sharing every detail of their day and health with you. It was hilarious to see it from the husband's perspective. Since I've been pregnant, I definitely update my husband throughout the day of every symptom and feeling I have and he definitely doesn't know what to say most of the time. I think we do this because we just want y'all to say "I'm sorry, that sucks." 😂😂

Sheltered kid moment. My parents wouldn't let us watch Rugrats when we were young because of how the kids would talk back to their parents. However, we watched Saving Private Ryan for a family movie night because my dad was really into world war 2 history so it was deemed okay. I'm still traumatized to this day.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion but I’m on Trey’s side, for Judge Jake because I think he deserves credit for being a husband who is contributing! I had 3 babies & my ex husband never did any dishes or cook, didn’t get up once in the night & certainly never got me a cup of coffee. I think it’s fantastic that Millennial husbands recognize they need to contribute, but think sometimes women don’t realize how blessed they are to have that support. Just my perspective. Rant over. 😉

That had to be hard. I nursed our babies so he couldn’t help out there but my husband would get up at night and change them and bring them to me. It was really helpful. I think I would have felt pretty bitter if he didn’t offer to help in any way.

@@raimeyewens7518 That’s great your husband was supportive! Mine was a very toxic & abuse marriage so honestly I loved taking care of my babies. It was much more life giving then having to do things for him constantly. Also…hence why he is my ex-husband. 😉

Postpartum is the most insane phase in a woman's life. Your body and mind are all doing wild things! My husband was helpful but needed a full night sleep to work full time so I did most the overnight stuff. It was exhausting! Breastfeeding took 7 weeks to figure out. It was the most challenging 7 weeks of my life! She's now 8 months old and life is so much easier!!
Trey, just wait until you have to clean concreted oatmeal out of every crevice in your baby's neck and hands when he starts eating solids in five to six months. It's something else! 😆

    • @MaKaye55
      @MaKaye55 Рік тому

Omg listen 😒..I have so many things to say about the US passport process. What I will say though for those unaware is that they’ve been testing out this pilot program for online renewal more recently in the past several months and have open windows of when they accept applications. I was able to get my father to renew his that way and it was SO much better: you hold on to your original documents which become inactive as soon as you submit the application online, you get an instant email notification of confirmation (thank you!) and you can track the progress through the portal, for his, they immediately started processing it by the next day. On the other hand on earth 2 with mail in renewals where you gotta wait until it reaches the processing center, they process your payment and *then* you get some type of indication that it has a tracking # to follow the very vague status updates like Trey mentioned lol-it’s a mess. I really hope the online renewal takes off and it becomes standard in the next few years. I do have peace of mind though that I nor my parents have to worry about this for the next 10 years.

I was a die hard N SYNC fan as a kid, so when I asked my grandma to get me an Eminem CD she didn’t think anything of it. I must add, her vision wasn’t the best, so the tiny explicit sticker back then didn’t catch her eye. Needless to say by the second song there was concern lol!
BTW there have been cases where people have woken up from surgery and they sing when they speak. I can’t remember if it’s always permanent or can get reversed . I just couldn’t imagine just singing nonstop, being angry at my son, trying to pull of the stern mama voice, and Disney princess voice comes out instead. Rather than pick up his toys he starts dancing around the room.

I would say that I was only "middle of the road sheltered" as a kid but my best friend in middle school was reared under pretty extreme conditions and school was really her only connection to the outside world. She could visit friends her Mom approved of and participate in band activities. Her Mom indulged me as one of her friends until about the end of 8th grade before becoming fairly certain that I must be a bad apple.😅 During the time I was still encouraged to visit her home (40 minutes outside of town and down in private driveway) I witnessed many interesting family practices and religious studies. They were always kind to me and her Mom actually gave me lots of good advice about not indulging in trends and striving to portray yourself with dignity which I'm sure didn't hurt as I went into high school.😂 One of the strangest things I remember is that despite media having heavy restrictions in the house and there being strong feelings about what types of game is we could play and how we conveyed ourselves to the world we were inexplicably allowed to watch the movie Labyrinth. I'm not knocking her family and I'm not knocking the movie Labyrinth, I just can't really convey how strange it was that in the midst of everything else that was going on we were still somehow allowed to partake of David Bowie's glistening package, mid magic happenings, seemingly with her Mom's blessing. I didn't have an explanation then and I don't have one now. Dance, Magic Dance!

Speaking of DJs and wedding music, the DJ for my wedding asked me for any specific songs NOT to play during the reception. I told him zero classic rock since I now detest that genre because of an ex boyfriend and “our song” falls in that genre. Well during the dollar dance, what do I hear but my ex boyfriend and my song playing. Life goes on and I hardly remember it now, but never a good moment for the DJ to play a song at your wedding that reminds you of an ex. 😝

TREY: tampons are not made of cardboard. Many of them come packaged in a cardboard tube (others come packaged in a plastic tube). Women do not insert the cardboard tube. Well, unless you're a girl I knew in college whose mom never explained things to her and she shoved the whole cardboard tube up there and then eventually stopped using tampons because they were so uncomfortable. Bless her heart. 🙂

My friend was just sharing with me the other day about how badly her mother left her in the lurch when it came to assistance with tampons as a young girl. It broke my heart because she was clearly traumatized by the breach and trust and the way her mother openly denied her information at the moment she most needed it. I suppose periods used to be seen as part of sex education? I honestly struggle to understand why any mother wouldn't help their daughter every way possible with our lot in life😢. When you think about all the generations of women who struggled to manage their cycle before the creation of modern feminine products it seems so twisted to live in the present age with the freedom to live a normal life through your period and then deny your daughter that information.
