``Fukuoka Kigyo'' is a weaver of Nishijin textiles that has been in business since 1902 in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. HIRONORI FUKUOKA, the 4th generation traditional craftsman of Nishijin weaving, is the main character of this time.
Nishijin-ori is a general term for “mon-orimono,” which is produced in Nishijin, Kyoto.
FUKUOKA, a traditional craftsman, strives to study the advanced techniques of Nishijin textiles and has the responsibility of passing them on to future generations.
Nishijin-ori, which is woven by highly skilled craftsmen, has created a delicate and splendid expression by combining the beauty of colors with various colored threads, the beauty of patterns woven with precision, the combination of warp and weft, and the luster and flexibility of silk. .
However, the current situation is that the demand for Japanese clothing, including silk fabrics, is decreasing year by year. Therefore, in order to pass on the tradition and technology of Nishijin-ori to the future, Fukuoka broke the concept that "Nishijin-ori is a yarn-dyed silk fabric" and decided to develop new fabrics that match the times from materials other than silk thread.
In the program, Fukuoka, who was born and raised in Nishijin, talks about his thoughts on Nishijin textiles and his efforts to develop new textiles.

    天然的丝绸对人是有益的,碳纤维和玻璃纤维的频率对人造成的影响是未知甚至有害的。我没有想到传统的西阵织也会用到再生材料,那么西阵织就不再是传统的西阵织了。
