Hi Shawn, Good video ... But you missed out an important aspect. Puja is basically paying respects to the deity. If you see any Hindu Puja, the actions involved (like Aarti-welcoming by fire sort of; Prasad-offering food; sometimes even Washing feet, etc) are very similar to how you would treat an honoured guest, or say your king who is visiting your home, or you are visiting his/her home (i.e. temple). Sadly, this way of welcoming guests now one only sees in traditional stuff like weddings, or in Bollywood movies (like say Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum's SRK welcoming scene etc). So, Hindus are basically honouring their beloved ancient king/queen. It might be that we incur some good karma from Puja, but unlike Abrahamics, where the more and harder you "pray", the more are the chances of you getting heaven, there is no such thing in Hinduism. Karma determines future suffering/happiness in Hinduism, unlike Abrahamics where "prayer" determines. Also, this is why temples in Hinduism are NOT considered congregation places for the "faithful to pray", but houses of diety (even legally I think).
historically sikhs also preformed puja its also mentioned guru granth sahib ji but neo sikhs have deleted it I request my hindu brothers to safeguard this beautiful ritual

This needs 10 times the views. I think there has been a reactionary stance against puja or ritual. It may be considered as a superstitious practice, but that is a shame. Because we might not initially understand a ritual does not mean we should reject it or dismiss it. Puja is very powerful.
Puja. in Hinduism, in mantras.. which are in sanskrit. Deva nagarika lipi.. language of gods. they come, there, when called in their langauge. it is as simple as that, which Brahmins, in anicient India, recognised, long back, and propotiated them, and got benefts, and became , the great caste, in India. ruled thousands of years. ...till lately.
While I see nothing wrong with Puja when done from the heart and with true understanding, I don't believe that you need to do Puja to walk the dharmic path or be a good Hindu/person. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna says "if one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, I will accept it." Sometimes the traditions and rules associated with Puja (depending on your regional or ancestral culture) can be complicated and too strict and, thus, distance a person from God. Simple, regular prayer and offering can be more powerful than an elaborate Puja.
He is spot on about the importance of pujas. It brings awareness and calms the mind. This helps to clarify the maya that clouds the atman that is within each of us. I watched and loved this video but initially forgot to hit LIKE. Remembered that and came back to hit like :)

Those who worship the demigods go to the planets of the demigods, but My devotees ultimately reach My supreme planet. The brahman is the concept of concoiusness which is formless and gender less... It primarily manifests into shakti(force also known as feminine) and also shiva/rudra(also known as the action which requires the force and the masculine) They again manifest into the trinity brahma, vishnu, maheswar with the consorts saraswati, laksmi, parvati We can almost see a bit of every religious philosophy here.. Doing idol worship is sin to some religions but for us it is same as considering the statue as god...also one of the ways of seeing the almighty manifested in the stone...being able to feel divine even through the normal of things is the hindu way of concoiusness
Hey Sean, what would you say is the core of Puja? Most mornings (or at least at some point during the day) I'll stand before a small altar in my bedroom, light some incense, ring a bell, and recite Iyengar's Patanjali Invocation & the Mahamrityunjaya mantra (3x) before practicing some pranayama & meditation. This is certainly a sadhana, but could it be considered a puja as well, or is there generally a specific structure?
Any act of bowing to the almighty, in any form, with your mind on it is a Puja. It can be elaborate as it is done in Temples ( shodacha upachara puja- puja of sixteen steps or Panchopachara puja- puja of Five steps), or simply light a lamp, an incense stick, and offer flowers/water/fruit as naivedyam. Invoke the mantras you know and recite them mind fully . The lamp that you light will represent agni ( fire) which will give you energy for the day. It is your conciousness which matters. The duration of the puja is your choice, only that it would be better to be conducted first thing in the morning before breakfast, and after a shower. Make it continuous habit ,exactly as you would do in your other daily aspects.
Puja is a powerful spiritual practice. As every spiritual practice of any religion or spiritual path it is a means to reach the inner realm of the Self or God or Unitiy. So all these different spiritual practices finally merge into one practice into that One inner state. In this state every thought is a prayer, each action becomes a worship of the divine One consciousness, which in essence we all are and ever have been.
U have explained it very well, more people needs to understand this, there are some peoples on youtube says they dont do puja as it is not written in ved and they try to impose it on other people, i dont know either they r doing it for a purpose or they dont know about it, people should listen to their own heart, and think it logically that a various complex rituals (puja) practised from begginig of human civilization cant be fake or misinterpreted, there are various reason to its but instead of listening to their mind they go on following peoples with so called facts, hinduism is not bonded by any text or books its free from beleifs nd alll hinduism is about seeking not abt imposing any ideas or philosophy,
I prefer the meditation, if done properly will help you realize the true nature of the self. You will have a true understanding of the scriptures, the deities and life in general. It's not difficult..Life is a meditation. Try it and you will realize for yourselves :)

Thank you so much for spreading the message of Hinduism and explaining concepts that people don’t get!! ☺️ Could you talk about our open mindedness (Hinduism accepts homosexuality and men and women are equal, women even divine) and the incredible proof of Hinduism. Also, someone asked me questions challenging the proof, so could I ask you those qs??
As a modern Pagan, I see a connection between hindu pujas and pagan offerings. In fact, somebody even says that Hinduism is a sort of Eastern Paganism and Paganism is a sort of Western Hinduism. Can I ask you to do a video in which you compare Neo-Paganism with Hinduism? Thank you :)
Paganism is Hinduism. You worship trees. Hindus worship trees( basil, banyan, peepal, etc) You worship River. You must know Ganges/Ganga. You worship ancestors and their spirits. Hindus worship ancestors and the set of days is called pitr paksh. You worship nature forces ( wind, fire, water, etc). Hindu gods are Vayu/pavan, Fire/ Agni, Water/ Varun, etc. The list goes on and on.
@Neopets Neopets Do you worship Rivers ( Ganges, Yamuna, Godavari)? Do you worship trees( Banyan, Vat, Peepal)? Do you worship Nature? If yes then it is paganism.

It primarily manifests into shakti(force also known as feminine) and also shiva/rudra(also known as the action which requires the force and the masculine)
They again manifest into the trinity brahma, vishnu, maheswar with the consorts saraswati, laksmi, parvati
We can almost see a bit of every religious philosophy here..
Doing idol worship is sin to some religions but for us it is same as considering the statue as god...also one of the ways of seeing the almighty manifested in the stone...being able to feel divine even through the normal of things is the hindu way of concoiusness
Again with you people, cherry picking verses...mistranslated and out of contexts.

Great
Hey Sean, what would you say is the core of Puja? Most mornings (or at least at some point during the day) I'll stand before a small altar in my bedroom, light some incense, ring a bell, and recite Iyengar's Patanjali Invocation & the Mahamrityunjaya mantra (3x) before practicing some pranayama & meditation. This is certainly a sadhana, but could it be considered a puja as well, or is there generally a specific structure?
I'm curious too :-)
Any act of bowing to the almighty, in any form, with your mind on it is a Puja.
*We need more people like u. why did u stop posting on youtube?*
Just don't make video... please make video of your country...show us how hindus live there
U have explained it very well, more people needs to understand this, there are some peoples on youtube says they dont do puja as it is not written in ved and they try to impose it on other people, i dont know either they r doing it for a purpose or they dont know about it, people should listen to their own heart, and think it logically that a various complex rituals (puja) practised from begginig of human civilization cant be fake or misinterpreted, there are various reason to its but instead of listening to their mind they go on following peoples with so called facts, hinduism is not bonded by any text or books its free from beleifs nd alll hinduism is about seeking not abt imposing any ideas or philosophy,
I prefer the meditation, if done properly will help you realize the true nature of the self. You will have a true understanding of the scriptures, the deities and life in general. It's not difficult..Life is a meditation. Try it and you will realize for yourselves :)
shawn , you are doing great job.keep it up .
Why always on the defensive mode ? why would you even have to defend your traditions ? BE PROUD of your traditions.

Thank you so much for spreading the message of Hinduism and explaining concepts that people don’t get!! ☺️
Could you talk about our open mindedness (Hinduism accepts homosexuality and men and women are equal, women even divine) and the incredible proof of Hinduism. Also, someone asked me questions challenging the proof, so could I ask you those qs??
This is an awesome channel. Mindful video!
Hindus worship trees( basil, banyan, peepal, etc)
You worship River.
Shy no new vedios . .
Hope you are fine
